With the first sip I can tell this is not my favorite but with all Victory Beers you can taste the smooth quality and obvious craftsmanship of a great beer. For some reason I was thinking it would be a little lower in ABV and a bit lighter in taste as this would make a great 2nd or 3rd beer for a great evening. Poured a dark copper with a nice head to it. Medium body and as I mentioned above...very smooth.

I've had a bottle of this sitting in my cellar for over 4 years now. Not sure why. I think that when my friend and i split a 6 pack of this about 4 years ago we did not think it was all that good fresh so we each decided to age some in our respective cellars for a while to see if this beer improved. It says on the label of the bottle I have here "enjoy by September 2010", meaning that this beer is about 4 years old at least. Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into one of my weizen glasses, this beer pours a cloudy/hazy, medium amber/copper color with lots of little floating chunks of yeast and bubbles continually rising to the top of the glass. Has a nice slightly off-white head that is well over an inch thick when first poured that eventually settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass with some swirls of foam on the beer's surface and not all that much lacing. Has yeasty aromas of some toasted caramel malts, bananas, apples, and a little bit of brown sugar. The taste is pretty much the same with slightly toasted caramel malt, banana and apple, hints of toast with brown sugar and a slight touch of clove and cracked pepper corn. No discerible hop flavors whatsoever. Has a crisp yet smooth, slightly prickly, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate to heavy carbonation. Pretty good and not bad at all for a 4 year old beer.
