The beer poured a reddish brown and was cloudy with a good deal of suspended yeast particles floating about my glass. A creamy tan head was present following the pour. I detected an aroma that was a mix of sour apples, banana and spices. This beer's flavor was tart and there were traces of sour apple and banana flavors.

When I first started sampling this seasonal beer, I ran into some bottles that had gone sour even they weren't that old and had been well cared for after they'd been purchased. Victory seems to have improved their quality control with respect to this beer since I've not had a bad sample in the last couple of years. This beer has a unique taste and is not for every beer drinker.

Pours a hazy golden brown color with a rather explosive off-white head that left some real nice curtain lacing on the side of the glass. The smell is of a good German wheat brew; banana and bubble gum and some nice spices. The flavor is much more subtle. The taste is of banana and bubble gum but is quickly followed by a big toasted malt presence. There is quite a balance by the sweet weizen phenols and bitter toasted malt. The feel is moderate and very well balanced; perhaps finishes just slightly bitter. This is a great brew. Good hefe qualities and a good malt presence.

Pours a cloudy copper color with a tan head. In the aroma, a dry banana and it is also a bit nutty. In the taste, sticky sweet/ dry banana and a small wheat presence. A smooth dry mouthfeel and a dry fruity aftertaste. Almost like drinking banana nut bread. One of the better weizen bocks, a great beer.

12oz bottle, enjoy by Aug 29 '08, served in a weizen glass.

A - murky, brownish color with a good sized tan head that was easily revived with a swirl of the glass, no real lacing to speak of.

S - yeast and wheat aromas were all I smelled.

T - very good yeasty flavor is tatsed throughout with a sweetness of malt and a very slight hop bitterness after the swallow.

M - medium bodied, good carbonation.

D - abv is up there, but if enjoyed slowly, a few of these isn't a problem.

Pours a murky orange brown into an Imperial Pint. Head rises a bit but quickly settles to a silent ring around this brew. Aroma is slightly citric with a waft of alcohol and hints of banana and spice.

Taste follows the nose for sure. Slightly rich and hoppy but the wheat undertones shine through here and there. Orangy spice and tangy banana dance around as this one goes down. Lively carbonation washes the tongue here and there.

This one is pretty good and drinkable. The alcohol lets it be known but does not oeverpower the drinkability.

poured a hazy copper with a two finger off white head that settled to a thing surface film. Super sticky with delicate lacing.

A tad bit funky and earthy with super sweet banana and clove tones

Clove banana taste with a bitter hop bite, alchohol is present, not over powering but you know it's there

Creamy medium bodied, nice finish

this was a good beer, but I doubt I could drink more then one in a session

12 ounce bottle poured into a flute, freshness date says best before august 2008, bottle conditioned, neat label art work as per usual from victory.

Ruddy brown hazy liquid with a nice finger and a half of head, yeast swirled into the glass (yummy yeasties). The smell was very strong with banana, medicinal phenols and maybe a little bubblegum. Taste is similar, balanced well with the alcohol and the yeast from the bottom of the bottle. Mouthfeel was good, creamy almost but still light. I think i could have three of these in a row, but probably no more. The alcohol and the strong flavor profile would get to me. Great beer overall.

Victory- Moonglow Weizenbock

A- Beautiful hazy golden red with a thick creamy head.
S- Big clove, dried fruits (raisin, prune, fig), banana and wheat.
T- Big peppery clove and banana with prunes and figs.
M- Flavors burst through in the end. Alcohol present throughout.

Overall- A delicious and potent beer here. I would rate higher if the alc was less present but still quite good.

Pours a wondrous, hazy ruby hue that almost appears purple at certain angles. Creamy, lustrous tan head that lingers appealingly leaving rings of lacings as it goes. Almost the milky, silky consistency of the head on a good stout from the cask. The smell is of faint sugary malt with some alcoholic medicinal qualities. The taste is of candied sugar and ripe plums giving way to the medicinal taste of alcohol finishing with an ever-so-subtle bite of hoppiness. Good, medium bodied brew -- not to heavy, not too light -- crisp enough to enjoy at just about any time. May be a little strong to be a session brew, but a great one to relax with and linger over while watching a game that you're not that interested in.

A definite winner.

First weizenbock, but I did purchase Aventinus at the same time so that will change soon.

I think I had this first one a bit too cold so I let it warm up a bit. As I did I was not disappointed

Pours a hazy orange brown with thin white head that leaves light lacing on the edges of the glass

Smells mostly of banana with estery alcohol notes and sweet malt.

Smooth and tasty. Wheat backed up by some sweetness. Banana flavor is at the center with some nice alcohol warmth.

I don't think I would drink a 6-pack of this, but I will continue to buy Moonglow. Really a nice change from a lot of hefe's I have been having. I think I will enjoy the style

A: Rich red/brown body with a moderate tan head

S: Spicy banana blast upfront... this beer smells fairly sweet with a hint of alcohol.

T: A natural, fruity sweetness... bananas and apples are most noticable with a bit of caramel for balance... you feel the ABV but you certainly don't taste it

M: A full body is helped by lively carbonation

O: Very drinkable considering the malty sweetness and the high ABV.

Aroma - starts off with big banana and a hint of clove spiciness, mellows to a malty sweet nutty banana combination - like liquid banana nut bread.

Pours a medium brown with a finger's width of light tan head. Head sticks around a while, leaving a bit of lacing on the glass.

Taste - fruity banana with some nuttiness in the flavour. Not a lot of phenols (clove). Has a malty sweet finish. Much more flavor as it warms up.

Body is lighter than expected but probably due to the effervescent carbonation. Again, body increases to a medium full body as it warms.

This is a yummy beer in the bottle (almost as good as it is on draft at the source) and is therefore dangerous at almost 9% abv.

This beer pours a moderately dark amber color with little to no head. The smell is big and wheaty, with very little hops or anything else. Its clearly a moderate malt used, but a darn lot of it. The taste is huge, and has three distinct stages: the first is light and effervescent, and reminds me of a light beer with flighty taste. About 20% into the taste a sizable wave of the medium malts creeps up from behind and surprises the back of the tongue. The final taste simply lingers after the titanic wave mentioned before, and sticks around for a long time. This beer does not dissapoint, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Victory. Well worth seeking out.

Pours a reddish brown with substantial head that dissipates slowly leaving a modest cap.

Sweet malt, banana, and dark fruit to the nose.

Caramel malt and molasses up front, fruit elements lead to slight bitterness in the finish.

Creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

Too drinkable, tasty stuff and watch the ABV. Not bad at all, but Aventinus is still better.

Pours a nice hazy amber colour with a BIG off-white head that leaves a good amount of residue on the glass after settling down to a thick lace.

The aroma is a great blend of yeast, lemon, clove, banana and other spices as well. Balance all around and quite inviting.

The flavour starts with a sweet banana/spice blend and quickly moves into a yeasty flavour that brings in a bit of the lemon before moving back to a sharp, spicy finish. There's definitely more of a bread feel/flavour here than expected from the aroma notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied with good carbonation and a slight slight hint of slickness.

This is a nice beer overall. Very well-done for the style and full of flavour and balance. Try it.

Appearance: Mildly hazy copper color. Tan head. Decent retention and medium laciung.

Smell: Very yeasty and bready. Lots of draker fruits coming through such as plums. Lighter fruits such as banana, apricots, and lemon, also, come through. Lots of sugary malt. Very spiced.

Taste: Nice sugary malt provides a good backbone for the apricots, bananas, plums. A nice yeasty/bready undertone provides a good contrast to the fruitiness. A good amount of spice in the finish leaves you wanting more.

Mouthfeel: Medium body yet crisp mouthfeel. It is a little sticky on the tongue.

Drinkability: So drinkable. I would have never imagined the ABV.

Pours a very hazy dark amber/brown almost purple looking. Finger high head thins out to nothing, but a slim collar.

Smells of odd dark fruity flavors, wheat and a hint of alcohol. The nose is very intriguing. First sip reveals a banana caramel malty flavor. Some warmth and further sips reveal a greaty complexity with hints of apple and a slighlty spicy tangy flavor. Alcohol is extremely well hidden beneath the sweet banana spiciness.

Full mouthfeel and the carbonation is in its proper place. Drinkable despite the high abv, but I'm happy after one. A unique, but solid take on a weizenbock, which I may return to once the season cools and to pair with a nice slice of apple or pumpkin pie.

A - virtually no head atop a deep copper body with a slight haze.

S - moderate malt nose and a lightly toasted bread hint. Hops were there in a simple floral basis. The yeasty notes on this one are basic, but definately presnt. Quite on style for all these scents. Considerably noticeable hints of nutmeg, and a bit of ginger.

T - initial tasting is mildly sweet and malty, with all the aromas mentioned above, poking through.

M - quite an oily texture in the light to medium body, an intersting feeling and accomplishment, IMO.

D - oh sure, yes it's nice. It will sneak up on you, about 8+%

12 oz bottle with "Enjoy by Sept. 12 07" printed on label.

Pours a cloudy orange/red with a thick tan head about 2 fingers high.

Aroma of bananas, wheat malt, dark fruit esters.

Flavors of tart wheat, banana, yeast, green apple and fig. No hop presence to speak of. Some alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. Lingering malt on the tongue.

Ranks 1 beer on the drinkability index. Ok once in a while, not something I'll actively seek out again.

Into a weizen glass, pours a cloudy, murky copper-orange amber, a bubbly sprizty head forming quickly and disappearing just as quick. The nose is decent, some vague fruits, banana and apple well past ripening, the yeast contributing a certain spicy character, sweetly malts in there too.

The taste is pretty solid, again the ripe apples and bananas coming right through, flanked by a light but adequate carbonation and yeasty spices that stick around and combine with tasty burps for a long, lingering aftertaste. The mouth is pretty full, actually very smooth and creamy, almost a little too thick. Can't say I've had too many of this style, but I do like my wheats, so perhaps I'll have to get into a German kick. As for this beer, can't say I've picked up everything here, but it sure is tasty. Props to MuenchenerKindl (I think) for this one!

Pours a hazy chestnut body with a cream colored head that's thin for a wheat beer but spot on for a bock.
Dark-bready, malty nose with some hard banana cider.
Flavors of bananas are up front with spicy cloves and phenols. It's a thin mouthfeel, but the alcohol warmth is very pleasant and lends to the drinkability.
There's a lot going on with all the fruit, spice, and warmth, and all of it just makes me love this style even more.

A- Thick tan head on a cloudy amber/copper body.
S- Big sweet caramel malts, some grass hops, standing out wheat aroma, and maybe some hints of dark fruits.
T- Nice big sweet caramel malts, hints of alcohol (pretty well hidden though for almost 9%) and toffee, grass and wheat flavors come through nicely. Leaves about a medium bitterness on the tongue. It is a very good weizen bock.
M-Full body low carbonation. Nice creamy feel to it.
D- I like this one a lot. When it gets released again I will have to try and get my hands on a 6-pack of this. One of the best Weizenbocks I have had.
