Pours a hazy burnt sienna with a ringed head. Aroma is malty, sweet and fruity with maple elements.
Taste is sweet and malty to begin. Lots of buttered toffee, a light orange element. Flavors turn slightly dryer and the sweetness subsides as it warms. Slight fruity aftertaste but not a trace of alcohol flavors or smells anywhere.
Mouthfeel is silky smooth and moderately heavy, leaving a slight stickiness on the lips. While it's not too very distinctive as a barleywine, drinkability is very high for a barleywine. I have another bottle, so I'll let it sit for a few years and report back.
