poured a hazy light amber color with a large white puffy head to start that rapidly fell to a light covering. Smell is perfect with spicy, clovy, lemony textures. The taste is even better with a follow-through of the spiciness and cloviness and lemon. After taste is also excellent with with a mild dryness at the finish. I could drink this beer all the time (or a least once a day). The best hefe weizen I've ever had. (419 characters)

this beer pours a very hazy yellow with golden overtones, the very irregularly constructed head is a beautiful bright white that fades slowly to lace on the glass. the aroma is a very nice hefe smell with the spiciness and wheat malt coming through well with a lot of citrus at the back. the taste doesn't disapoint with the sweet malt and spice and citrus really coming together nicely with the low carbonation from the cask lending a certain creamy character to the mouthfeel. a very tasty beer. (497 characters)

This was the first brew I tried at the Microbrew Expo. And what a brew it is! It poured a tawny yellow color with a good head, the nose with a promise of good things to come. Delivering on this promise, this weissbeer has a great light wheat taste, coupled with a smooth and agreeable finish. Very refreshing ideal summer drinking. One of the standouts (IMO) from the expo. (373 characters)

I may have a new favorite Hefe. This one made me want to rate a beer, which I've been slack about for some time, but here goes. Victory does another great beer. This poured a pale yellow, almost straw. Big foamy head that went down some, but still maintained through the whole beer. This is a really pretty wheat beer. Only slightly cloudy. Smells like wheat, duh, bananas, and citrus. Tastes are all the same, with a bam! Citrus is very lemonish. Crisp, cool, and refreshing. It's got all the tastes that I love about german hefe, and this is American. Like I said in the begginning, Victory has a great seasonal summer beer! If you like hefe's you need to try this one. (670 characters)

The German's do it best, but it's always nice to see a homegrown hefe. This brewery has some great beers, so I'm expecting no less here.
Pours a clear gold, not as cloudy as your unfiltered hefe's. Decent head that thins down to a nice lace.
Aroma is nice and citrusy with a good biscuity malt in there as well. taste is lemony and fruity with some bubblegum and pepper backdrop, but not the banana that exists in its German brethren.
A nice American brew for the style. Eminently drinkable, refreshing, you can't go wrong in the summer months drinking this brew. (566 characters)

Cloudy yellow, with a thin yet persistent white head.

Starts out with a lemony, wheat-y nose. Dry, lemony, spicy (clovey) flavor, with a slightly bitter finish. Let it warm for just a few minutes, and the cloves and bananas emerge, but the lemony presence remains there throughout. On an absolute basis, it's not quite the beer that, say, Franziskaner is. On the right day (80+ degrees, sunny, sitting by the pool) though I'd rather have this brew - the citric tang combined with the hefeweiss flavors make it the nigh-on perfect summer brew. These guys do SUCH a brilliant job. (584 characters)

A: Superior Milky head with a clouds golden color. Text book Hefeweizen. I just love seeing that collection of sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
S: Sweet Malty, wheat and bread.
T: Nice wheat malt flavor covers your tongue and you get a slight hint of a citrusy sweetness as well.
DM: Good carbonation, very nice and silky. Refreshing beer, great for summer. (363 characters)

From the moment the first few drops of this beer hit the bottom of the glass I had a hunch this was going to be good. And in typical Victory fashion, the first taste did not dissappoint. Maybe it was the hearty, whole milk-like consistency when pouring...or maybe the rich cloudy gold color...or the exceptional aroma of banana & clove eminating and thick pillowy head. Outstanding mouthfeel and flavor as well. This one's a keeper for sure. Thanks Bill & Ron. (460 characters)

Murky straw yellow in color with a big puffy white head that retains well and leaves little lace.

Wow, this is an American hefe?!? Big ripe banana aromas with zesty lemon, bubblegum sweet, wheaty grain, cloves, spice, and floral hops.

The flavor is even better! Massive banana, pink bubblegum, and lemon flavors on the fore, with notes of slick wheat, spicey cloves, very German tasting yeast, and soft floral hops. Almost a Witte like character due to the balance of sweet and tart flavors.

Medium bodied with a juicey creamy mouthfeel with plenty of fine, tickling carbonation. This is the best American hefe I have ever had. I gave a sip to a German friend who just returned from a visit htere, including Erdinger. He was very impressed as well. (757 characters)

Poured a clear light amber, yellow with a huge hite pillow like head, and tons of carbonation. Very lively aroma, lots of grains and cereal hints, with some subtle fruit like flavors mixed in. Bananas and apples were the most prominant. Taste was exhilirating. Such a lively, frothy and light flavor. Quite possibly the best warm weather beer I have ever tried. Flavor just exploded in your mouth and the lightness of it along with the remarkable carbonation are unmatched. This is now going to be summer beer of choice until or if something can uproute it. Really a phenomanal brew. (583 characters)

Had this brew at the pub in Downingtown.
Served chilled in a fluted glass. Bright white fluffy head present on serving.
Color is a cloudy gold with some sediment.
Aroma is lemony, bready, and bananas. First sip reveals a fine yet bitey carbonationand fairly lite body.
Super head retention.
Flavor is similar to nose, fruity, banana, and some lemon hits, maybe some cloves in there too, but I have trouble smelling that sometimes.
Beer is very smooth and easy to drink, perfect for a warm July Friday afternoon. (518 characters)

Appearance - Cloudy yellow with a tall creamy white head.

Aroma - Smells just like a banana nut muffin to me.

Palate - Light fizzy carbonation.

Flavor - Semi sweet banana flavors up front with a clove taste in the middle that ends with a nice banana and citrus finish.

Final thoughts - Very nice brew from Victory. (319 characters)

pours a cloudy light orange/yellow with a massive white head that melts slowly to a sticky white lacing.
Aroma is faintly clove, banana, biscuits, and white pepper. Maybe a hint of apple.
Taste is wonderfully light and refreshing....smooth apple, banana, cloves....soft wheat with a sharp pepper bite on the swallow.
Mouthfeel is full...especially for this style.
VERY drinkable....drying afterwards making you want another and another and another.
Thanks, Ev. (460 characters)

Moderate pour into a 0.4 liter pokal yields a two-inch white head that reduces to a solid rocky meringue over a cloudy light orange-amber body. Lovely beer.

Smell is bright and crisp, apples, pears, white grapes, sweet cookie-dough, plums, and lots of citrus. This smells (and looks) so refreshing and fruity. Hints of coriander. Great smell.

Taste is loads of clove and coriander over a nice smooth citrus-and-malt base. Peppery spicey crispness. Nice fruity finish. What a delightful surprise!

Mouthfeel is crisp and tingly.

Drinkability is smooth, crisp and easy.

Overall -- WOWOW. What a surprise. I had no idea. This is right up there with some of the best German Hefeweizens. The only thing that keeps it from equalling Kulmbacher Kapuziner or Weihenstephaner is the lack of the bubblegum flavor. Otherwise, a really good H-W. Get some. (860 characters)

Pours a cloudy golden color. Aroma is citrusy with a hint of banana. Taste is of spices and citrus fruits. Excellent mouthfeel and drinkability. Quite refreshing after a days work in the hot summer weather. Maybe I won't enjoy this beer so much if it was winter, but right now it's 95 degrees outside and this is what I needed. (327 characters)

A fantastic wheat brew from the gang at Victory Brewing Company. This cloudy as all hell version of a weissbier was rather yellow to almost an orange in hue. The head was tall and rocky, to be sure. Aromas of citrus and bananas whaft through my brain, speaking to me of things to come. Very refreshing on the palate, this Bier has a solid punch, thanks from the citrus. Good character, and highly, highly drinkable.

The beer pours a cloudy light gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great! It has a beautiful pale and wheat malt scent along with a very yeasty aroma. It's loaded with esters. The taste is great as well. It's smooth and tastey with a bit of citrus and lots of banana/clove flavors. The mouthfeel is good. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This nails the hefe profile. It's flavorful with a citrus edge, lots of yeast esters and a wonderful malt bill; well done Victory. (532 characters)

Served from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass.

Appearance: Cloudy straw yellow with a big but thin white head.

Smell: What a great smell. Cloves, Banana and Yeast. Just what a Hefe Weizen should smell like.

Taste: Starts of with cloves and then moves on to a slight sweetness and yeast. There is also a banana and wheat taste that is present. Also some slight citrus notes.

Mouthfeel: Light/Medium Mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation. Slight wheat and clove ending that does not last along time but is refreshing.

Drinkability: Very drinkable. I could easily drink a six pack of these on a hot summer’s day.

What a great example of the style. Once again a great beer from victory brewing. This taste good during the cold winter months but I can’t wait to try it on a hot summers day. (822 characters)

Presentation: 12 oz longneck, Enjoy by date printed on the label - it seems to be a year or so out.. seems a bit long for a weiss? Lots of description on the label.

Appearance: Pours with a great billowy white head, yellow with just a hint of orange, and some clouds in there.

Smell: Lots of fruit - some banana and a bit of citrus, and also a nice yeasty pepperiness.

Taste: Nice spicey and balanced by some great fruit flavors. Very drinkable, lots of wheat flavor in there too.

Overall impression: Great wheat beer - definitely one of the better American offerings. Great balance, highly highly drinkable. (621 characters)

A - A clear golden color. Lots of head retention. Very nice.

S - Wonderful. Lemon, wheat. Strong aromas. Exactly what you expect in a good Hefe.

T - I am not a huge wheat beer/Hefeweizen fan. However, Victory has sold me on this one. Very mild flavors of lemon, wheat.

M - Very smooth. Nice carbonation and light bodied.

D - As good as this style gets in my opinion. Poor another round! (392 characters)

Well yes I can't lie I have an ongoing relationship with Victory that's clear and yes I'm not one of those craft brewing lover's who hate wheat beers. In this case I found a great representation of the American brewed hefeweizen quite the rare creation if you ask me. It appears a clouded golden hue that is reminiscient of one of the most promising hefeweizens with a large cloudy white head that leaves behind thick bands of lacing. Aroma contains thick billowing layers of banana and vanilla that could go on all day in my nostrils with a sharp wheat citrus toned quality about it, let's just say it's damn good. Taste consists of soft marshmellow, banana, and vanilla phenols strongly brought on by yeast characteristics along with more sharp wheat characteristics and citrus notes. Mouthfeel has an effervescent highly carbonated champagne mouthfeel very much like the best of the best German brewed hefeweizens I love it. Drinkability is over and over again one of my favorite domestic versions of this style bring more on thanks Bill C. and Ron B. good guys believe me I know. (1,083 characters)

Pours a pale yellow color with plenty of visible carbonation bubbles. The head was two fingers thick, and some spotty lacing developed. The aroma was of wheat, banana, clove, and citrus. The flavor followed the nose, as the banana, clove, lemon, and general spiciness were nicely balanced with some light bitterness and grainy wheat.

Mouthfeel was very crisp at the start and finish, and the finish was also slightly dry and refreshing. Superb drinkability, as several of these can be enoyed in a single session. One of my more favorite hefe's on the market today. (567 characters)

Hazy, pale yellow-white in hue; the liquid looks warm and agreeable. White head, at the apex the foam was three-fingers tall. The head retention was fairly solid; it slowly and steadily faded to a thin soapy cap… and then a soapy ring. There was no subsequent lacing. Damn, otherwise this beer looks really good. Nitpicking, maybe but head retention and lacing are critical to the appearance of this style. Both areas could use a boost. Still, it is good-looking wheat beer.

The nose says clearly, “I am a Hefe Weizen and not some misguided American Wheat beer!” Hell yeah! Lightly citrusy with hints of cloves and bananas, it is wheat too. In the background are kisses of bubblegum and marshmallows. I am impressed; the nose is very well-rounded and tremendously articulate. This is easily one of the best domestic Hefes I have had the pleasure of smelling. Inviting… truly lovely!

The palate is special. Wheaty throughout, sometimes Hefes lack this quality. Sure, bready is nice but wheaty is wonderful! It is lightly clovey and faintly peppery at the back, with some bananas too, there is also a pleasant jolt of lemon zest. Very refreshing! It is hoppy for a Hefe, flowery and moderately bitter. IMO, this makes the beer even more invigorating then, say, Paulaner’s version. While both are good, Victory seems to have added a little extra layer of loveliness. The aftertaste is a bit short but I can live with it… cleansing. The lemony residue is really pleasant. There aren’t many areas this beer could improve in; it fits my mental image of a Hefe almost to the letter. If there were louder banana and bubblegum notes I would drool all over myself. It is really one of the better Hefes I have had, it is no Weihenstephaner but what is?

Medium in body, moderate levels of fizzy carbonation, which tickles my throat as it happily slides down. The carbonation aids the refreshing nature of the taste. The mouthfeel fits this beer well. What a great tasting, juicy beer that begs to be drank.

Which leads to the obvious fact, this beer is drinkable. What a great Summer Beer! It is kicking ass in December! I could kill a keg of this myself on any giving day. Just think… burgers, Victory Weiss, a lawn chair and shade. Oh my, that could be heaven. This beer is in great shape for a summer seasonal. I got my bottle via a trade with RedHaze. Thanks a bunch, this was a great Hefe and one of the best domestic interpretations I have had. If you haven’t tried it, do so! (2,492 characters)

A - Poured into a weissebier glass this beer produces a monumental head that is coherent enough to rise a good inch above the rim of the glass without collapsing. The beer comes out of the bottle crystal clear until my swirling and adding the dregs causes a cloud of yeast to slowly spread through the glass.

S - Lots of clove and a little bit of banana. Some vanilla and maybe smoke as well. Very satisfying weisse beer aroma.

T - A more even mix of banana and clove than in the aroma. Creamy vanilla note on top followed by herbal hops and just a hint of smoke in the finish. Slightly metallic aftertaste.

M - High carbonation, medium body.

D - Wow, this is a great bavarian style wheat beer, and as such it is ridiculously drinkable. The aroma and appearance are spectacular and the flavor is pretty good as well (though I prefer a balance that favors banana and bubble gum more than clove). Overall this is a beautiful example of a style that can be quite difficult to perfect. I am continually amazed at Victory's prowess at brewing classic beer styles. (1,063 characters)
