Living within an arms reach of this brewery I frequent a meal or two every so often as a cheat for my diet. During the spring and summer months when Sunrise is on tap it's a given that I will have at least one!!

I'm not big on wheat beers, but to me Sunrise is easily my most favorite to readily drink.

It has a hazy, almost ripe orangey-yellow to it that you can't see through due to it being an unfiltered beer. The head somewhat laces around the edges of the glass which is not always typical of a wheat style.

The smell is fantastic and refreshing. It has a slight citrus smell but nothing overbearing or out of the ordinary.

The taste of this beer is beautifully assembled by the yeast and malts fermenting rather than the added ingredients for flavor. You get that same typical clove, citrus and off banana taste to it; yet none of those are involved in the brewing process.

Mouthfeel is not overly carbonated nor under carbonated, it's just right. Being unfiltered some beers can leave some sediment in your mouth from time to time... This is not one of them unless you're drinking it from a bottle.

If you ever have the chance to give this a shot, it's a sure-fire thumbs up!!

MMmmmm goood beer. Served with a nice, thick, foamy, frothy off white head that lasts a while and good lacing. Color is an almost clear yellow amber and lots of bubble trails. Aroma is a divine blend of malt, banana, spices, bubblegum, yeast. Flavor is classic Bavarian Weisse - malt, citrus, yeast, bit of sweet tart. Body is very good although still a little soft and great carbonation. Finish is like flavor, of good length, clean and slow taper. Very good, session beer.

Had this beer on tap in a pint glass at the Hooverville in Seattle.

Appearance: a nice yellow orange hue with a touch of haze and a finger of creamy white foam. Nice, but frankly it could be hazier -- a definitive quality in a weissbier.

Smell: slightly banana-ey and citrusy wheat aroma. Better than most pale wheat ales, but not quite on the order of a good German weiss.

Taste: decent flavor with some authentic weissbier notes. Citrus and wheat character are well-represented. Not quite an authentic hefeweizen, but not bad.

Mouthfeel: medium light body with a somewhat disappointing level of carbonation. Not insipid or anything, just nothing interesting happening here.

Overall: not a bad beer. Closer to an authentic weissbier than most pale wheat ales, I still don't know if I'd really classify this as an authentic German-style hefeweizen. Still, it's pretty tasty.

Served on-tap at Bodega on 6/9/11 in a standard pint glass. Appears a hazy pale yellow color with a decent bubbly white head. Not a great amount of lacing, but this beer still looks wonderful.

The aroma is full of wheat and other light malts and nice wheat hints. There are also nice fruity scents, mostly citrus. The taste is very similar. Very tangy on the tongue with the wheat and the fruit. There are nice clove spices as well. Everything seems to fit together well and really works great.

The mouthfeel is just right, medium to light bodied, good amounts of carbonation and it goes down very smoothly and easily. Overall, this is a great beer. It is easy drinking, very flavorful and is something that works great on a hot day.

16 ounce pint - $5.25 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Served to my end of the bar a clearish, light gold body with a small, white head.

Smell: A nose smelling predominately of husky, grainy wheat malt and cloves paired with lighter, though noted sniffs of lemon and Noble hops.

Taste: A start of anticipated tangy wheat malt with an integrated lemon citrus character and slight sweetness. Enter the cracked cloves which really push aside the other tastes. A light backing of Noble hops provides an additional spiciness and light bitterness. As it warms, the lemon flavor increases slightly. Finishes dry with a final mix of malted wheat and cracked cloves.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Positively acceptable! While not the most wondrous weiss it still makes for fine, tasty summertime drinking.

Had on draft at DD Peckers in Charleston, SC
Poured a hazy orangish with a nice fluffy head that faded slowley.
Rings of lacing left behind.
Smells of sweet wheat malts, slight citrus and bready.
Flavor was nice. Hints of wheat and hefe yeast dominated. Nice flow on the palate resulting in a good mouthfeel

Review from notes on 6/4/10.

This is your standard good tasting hefeweizen. Pale lemon body, light cloudiness, with a well formed, foamy white head. Touches of lace here and there. A burst of oranges, clove, and bubblegum. Perhaps a hint of ginger? Biscuity and wheaty backbone, followed by a lovely citrus fruitiness and finishes with a tiniest bit of bitterness. Light and bubbly, quite smooth and something you can fill a boot with and quaff for an hour.

Poured a hazy gold into a weizen glass, with a finger of white head, decent carbonation, and spotty lacing. The smell was standard fare for a weissbier...clove, lemon, and subtle banana, but very, very mild. The taste confirmed this; if the flavor was measured on a volume scale of 1-10, it probably would be a 4. Needs more strength. The feel was a nice light carbonated feel, and very sessionable. If the intensity could be kicked up a few notches, this could be a great beer.

I had this ontap at at Victory Brewery and Restaurant in Dowingtown, Pa. It came is a tumbler.
A: The body is a cloudy dark straw color. The head is 2 fingers tall, is a bright white color, great retention, small sized bubbles and tons of thin lacing.
S: The aromas are orange, generic esters and sparge.
T: The flavors are orange, candy sugar and a late strong wheat presence.
M: The mouthfeel is clean, not very dry, kind of crisp.
D: This beer is very drinkable.
Don't drink and review.

Got a glass of this at the Victory Fall Fest.

A: Pours a slightly hazy, yellow body with a white head with nice retention and decent lacing.

S: Kind of a sour, macro smell with some maltiness to it and not much more.

T: A decent malty taste with some banana esters evident. A slightly bitter aftertaste that was not too impressive. I was expecting a bit sweeter taste.

M: Fairly thin and pretty watery. Nothing too impressive.

D: Ok mouthfeel and taste combination, but nothing overly impressive. I definitely expected a little bit better from here.

this beer pours a very hazy yellow with golden overtones, the very irregularly constructed head is a beautiful bright white that fades slowly to lace on the glass. the aroma is a very nice hefe smell with the spiciness and wheat malt coming through well with a lot of citrus at the back. the taste doesn't disapoint with the sweet malt and spice and citrus really coming together nicely with the low carbonation from the cask lending a certain creamy character to the mouthfeel. a very tasty beer.

The beer pours a cloudy light gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great! It has a beautiful pale and wheat malt scent along with a very yeasty aroma. It's loaded with esters. The taste is great as well. It's smooth and tastey with a bit of citrus and lots of banana/clove flavors. The mouthfeel is good. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This nails the hefe profile. It's flavorful with a citrus edge, lots of yeast esters and a wonderful malt bill; well done Victory.

Pours a clouded yellow with a weak white head. Nose is what you'd expect. Banana, clove, funk. A bit airy on the flavor really. Just nice and fluffy shall we say. Almost seems like a hefe and a wit got together to procreate and this is what came out. Real smooth feel. Extremely drinkable. The quintessential warm weather brew.

A: A cloudy blonde, rich 2" head with decent retention in the 20 oz.

S: Rich citrus and banana esters, slightly sharp on the nose. Belgian yeast can be smelled as soon as it's set down in front of you, still a few feet from your nose.

T: Strong banana flavor, light and citrusy, toasty and biscuty hints roll over the tongue. A slight alcohol can be tasted as the carbonation pops in your mouth.

M: Smooth and creamy in that unfiltered hefe sort of way. Carbonation bubbles on the tongue. Very crisp and refreshing.

D: It brought me back to the Hefes and Wits I was drinking just a few months back in the summer. Wonderfully crisp and refreshing, just like a brew of the style should be.

I had this at home from 1/6 in my keg fridge. Very cloudy appearance, copper color, big bright white head. Loads of fruit smell, banana and some lemon and a hint of clove. The taste is great; it started with the fruit and ended with the spicy cloves. The beer is slightly creamy, but that didn't hang around, it finishes very dry. A very refreshing beer, a great example of a hefe-weizen.

Had this brew at the pub in Downingtown.
Served chilled in a fluted glass. Bright white fluffy head present on serving.
Color is a cloudy gold with some sediment.
Aroma is lemony, bready, and bananas. First sip reveals a fine yet bitey carbonationand fairly lite body.
Super head retention.
Flavor is similar to nose, fruity, banana, and some lemon hits, maybe some cloves in there too, but I have trouble smelling that sometimes.
Beer is very smooth and easy to drink, perfect for a warm July Friday afternoon.

A fantastic wheat brew from the gang at Victory Brewing Company. This cloudy as all hell version of a weissbier was rather yellow to almost an orange in hue. The head was tall and rocky, to be sure. Aromas of citrus and bananas whaft through my brain, speaking to me of things to come. Very refreshing on the palate, this Bier has a solid punch, thanks from the citrus. Good character, and highly, highly drinkable.

Zum wohl!

Cloudy unfiltered straw hued pint from a growler under a perfect 2 finger high cloudy white head that quickly dissipates to scant head coating. A few swirls towards the end bring up some foamy covering but no lace.

Potent aromas of blended cloves and bananas. Leafy scents peppery spices in there. Saison like hints percolate about.

Ripe bananas and coriander flavor. A bit bready, doughy, quite herbal with citrousy finish. After a little gradual warming, dry bitter aftertaste.

Foamy sugary 7-Up bite in the body. Tons of chewiness and 5.7 % ABV make for a good summer drinker.

Last swigs: Actually reminds me a bit of STONE E04. This might be beer blaspheme but I could go for an orange wedge in this one.

Beer is good. Especially fresh beer. Happy beering.

This beer poured into the glass an orangish/yellow color that cloudy in appearance. Cloud like consistency for the head, fluffy, and pure white in color. It lasted only a short time, then it fell to a small skim and a nice white rim on the edges. No real lace present. Would have liked to see some delicate lace or something. The aromas that came from the glass were of sweet fruit (lemon, orange), bananas, wheat grains, spices (cloves) and a wisp of yeast in the end. Nice meld of aromas in the glass all seemed to be present but not overpowering. The tastes were of fruits (oranges, apples – some tart), bananas, clove spices, sweet malts, light wheat grain, and again wisps of yeast for a moment, and then finishes kind of dry. Medium bodied. Sweet malt and esters are present in the aftertaste. A well-balanced beer, full of great flavors that refresh and please. Very good beer and drinkable. Very good example of style

On-tap at the Victory Brewery and Pub:

Poured an opaque banana peel color that looked finely done wheat. But it had only a minimal head, some even lace, and no stain. Darn.

Smelled of mild banana and minimal clove, a quality lactic tone, and a very fresh and firm wheat background. Taste was of very fresh and firm wheat, with an appetizing sour flavor and a fruitiness (some banana, more mellow tropical fruits) that was small and wrapped up underneath the strong sour flavor though nevertheless an important presence. Small finish was refreshing and without any lingering yeasty, bitter, or creamy flavors.

Quick and palette cleansing, highly refreshing, to me this was a quality hefe-weizen without surprises, imbalances, or anything else. A nice by-the-numbers textbook version.

Draught at the Dawson Street Pub in Manayunk. This may be the best American Weiss I've had to date. Served in the proper traditional glassware, it was a cloudy, golden yellow with a thick white head. Spice, coriander, citrus and clove all detectable in the nose.

What got me about this Weiss is that it is quite full of flavor, and pretty complex as well. Most American Weissbiers seem to lack in this department. Yeast and clove run wild, as it finishes dry and fruity with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is somewhat bubbly and dead-on for the style. Victory has crafted yet another excellent beer. This one seems a little harder to come across, so if you do by chance find it, don't hesitate.
