Poured this beer from a 12 oz. bottle into a snifter. Poured hazy body with a very fine head. It presents itself with an almost fruity aroma, with a decent amount of spices. The taste is full of spice and a decent portion of malted wheat. There is very little presentation of any fruit flavor, which leads me to believe this beer was brewed with a Belgian yeast that induces a fruit characteristic, but no real fruit, which I am actually impressed with. This causes the beer to rest easy on your tongue and leave a lingering taste of spice and a good witbier.

Overall an excellent brew!

Review form notes.

A: Poured a slightly hazy, golden yellow. Lots of carbonation bubbles released to the top. A one finger foamy heady formed and had a slow fade. Moderate lacing.

S: Light fruit, mostly banana and some apricot with a good level of spices to compliment - nutmeg, pepper, and a little bit of cinnamon.

T: Similar to the aroma. A little bit of yeast, some banana, and some light grains. The spices are subtle, and meld nicely with the fruit.

M: Light and crisp, very. refreshing. Pretty carbed up, lots of small bubbles.

O: A solid witbier. Look forward to cracking more of these this summer.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Three Floyd's glass. It poured a light, golden yellow color with a thin white head barely covering the top of the beer.

The aroma shows a good amount of the coriander and orange peel to it. I get some of the sweeter, bready wheat coming through as well, but it feels a little light overall. Not bad, but also not great.

The taste also has a good dose of the citrusy, orange peel, coriander, and a bit of a lemony zest to it. Like the aroma suggested, the wheat malt is there but feels a little light. Again, something just feels light, or missing to it.

The mouthfeel is light with carbonation being on the higher side. Overall it was a drinkable beer, but not a great one of the style. It was A little weak overall, almost feels like a light wit beer if there were such a thing, or a light beer with coriander and orange peel added. An easy drinking summer beer, but not one that scores great against it's peers.

This beer came in a bottle. After pouring this beer into a clear glass, I noticed that it had a yellow glowing colour, which was a bit hazy with a healthy amount of carbonation and a 1 and a half finger head that disapated rapidly. A rather nice amount of lacing to report.

Medium hops smell with banana undertones.

Very carbonated, dry and smooth.

Good. Banana sticks out as a dominant flavor.

Very good on a warm spring day! Very good all around!

Pours a lemony gold color, medium fine white head with decent retention, slightly hazy.

Smells of citrus, banana esters and coriander.

Tastes follows, bananas and coriander with some citrus and lemon zest and a mild finish of bitterness.

Medium to light body, tingly carbonation.

Extremely drinkable and sessionable warm weather ale. Had this sitting out in the sun and it hit the spot. Quenches thirst. Not my favorite wit ever, but probably up there on the list and I would have this again.

The second beer this eveing was the Victory Worldwind Witbeir! The color was a cloudy golden with thin white head. The nose included hints of clove and citrus. The taste was decent...was not overpowered by clove or citrus...very good balance. There seemed to be an additional spice, but I could not name it. The mouthfeel was good enough to enjoy.

Whirlwind Witbier pours a very pale straw color. It’s hazy, and looks yellow when held to light. A foamy white head covers it and stands roughly a finger and a half tall. It’s quick to recede, leaving light strands of lace lining the glass.

The nose is definitely on the weak side, but isn’t bad. It’s grainy and earthy up front. There are hints of citrus orange and lemon throughout. Light spicy scents of orange peel and coriander are the driving force. If they were just a little stronger…. Belgian yeast is in the mix and smells delicious. Alcohol is blended well and isn’t noticeable.

The flavor is quite good. It starts out with nice orange peel and coriander flavors. They are the x-factor and simply taste delicious. They have a stronger presence here and are responsible for the score bump. It tastes a little sugary and sweet. Earthy and grainy notes are apparent throughout. Belgian yeast adds its usual nice touch. Alcohol is buried. Goes down nice and way too easy.

Whirlwind Witbier has a light to medium body. Carbonation is mid-range, but doesn’t interfere with its smooth feel. It goes down far too easy. I could take down multiple bottles of this with ease.

Victory Brewing Company is a fantastic brewery that routinely brews very impressive beer. Whirlwind Witbier is definitely impressive. Generally, Witbiers are relatively simple and straight forward. This one is no exception. But, the flavor is really nice. Couple that with the fact that it’s extremely drinkable and you have a winner.

A: Cloudy, but more yellow than straw, but less so than mustard. Flimsy, powder white head that didn't go anywhere.

S: Lemon, coriander (maybe?), and Victory's awesome filtered water scent that makes Prima Pils so amazing.

T: A bit thin and water, yet I really dug the spicy aftertaste... nice fruity finish for sure.

M: I wish the carbonation had more umpf! There was absolutely no lacing whatsoever.

O: The jury is still out whether I'll get this one again. I guess if there's nothing else around at the time, I'll take the plunge.

A: pale yellow. hazy. fluffy white head has no retention and is kind of a let down.

S: slightly vinous, white wine-esque. italian seasoning and pepper. belgian-like yeast fruitiness.

T: very herbal. some spice as well. finish has a bit of pancake batter and some residual sweetness.

M: medium body medium carbonation. i was expecting it to be a little more effervescent.

D: honestly with so many solid brews coming out of Victory i was expecting a lot more out of this. slightly refreshing, but definitely better examples out there. keep on moving...

A : hazy and super vibrant yellow. Very refreshing looking. head is light, bubbly and bright white. very sticky and full. a bit of yeast floaters have settled at the bottom of the glass.

S : a lemony burst with a back of malty wheat or spice.

T : light with a nice hint of white pepper. A hint of lemon and a well blended tart hops. The hop lingers after through the ending. The beer is light bodied but nice. The yeast lends very mild esters with spicy clove.

M : vibrant effervescent with a spicy hit that tingles the tongue. The mild hop bites quickly and lingers nicely.

Although a light offering, this beer is darn good. Very easy going flavors with a unique profile. light and flavorful and easy to drink wins all the time.

A: Pours a hazy, pale golden color that is so pale it has an almost greenish hue. Pretty big head off the pour but it recedes pretty quickly.

S: Wheaty and sweet smell. Lots of citrus and a lot of yeast in the nose.

T: Pale malts, yeast, clove, banana and lemon meld together pretty well. Nice, light mouthfeel that works for the style. It's a little too sweet for me and not one of the best wits I've had, but it's not bad at all.

First review, and of a style I am not always that enamoured with - who needs another A+ review of KBS anyways :-)

A "phew the kids are in bed" pour into a Chimay Tulip glass

a - lovely yellow/straw color. some big bubbles that quickly dissipated. An insubstantial 1 cm white head also quickly dissipated

s - pleasant. For me mainly banana. Does not have the mustiness that I dislike about many witbiers

t - again pleasant - again banana - nice malt backbone

m - feels great

o - this was picked up as a makeweight to a case of prima pils and I'm glad I did - it won't change the world but its a perfectly acceptable summertime beer

S: Orange peel, coriander floralness, wheat, some dough

L: Hazy light yellow, tight creamy white head that dissipates

T: Orange and wheat spiciness leading to a soft bitterness. This leads to a grainy dryness

M: Medium bodied, medium carbonation

Drinkable but pretty forgettable.

A nice, somewhat hazy, and very bright golden yellow then came out of over me. Very nice carbonation was visible, with the chains of bubbles really just reaching up toward the top throughout the session. There was a good three finger high head of white foam that only very slowly faded away, and even once it was gone there was tons of side glass lace present. Pretty much a very good look for the style, I really thought it looked very nice indeed.

The aroma was somewhat light, but once you let it warm up it started to come out at you a little bit better. Very nice light fruits, hints of banana and apricot, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg really far in the back, with a touch of a pepper like smell as well. The flavor followed suit just the same, with a very nice, light body ale. Tons of carbonation and a really crisp, clean feeling. The first flavor to come over was the light grain, and a touch of yeast, some banana poking around in there as well, with a sparkling quality to it. Nice touch of bitter grapes toward the finish, giving that little bit of a hoppy touch to dry out the finish and get you ready for another sip. Not a hint of alcohol in here what so ever, as this was really solidly put together. I could have kept drinking this one all day long, it was just that good. Really a very nice, high quality ale.

pours a light yellow color with pure white head. not very cloudy even after making sure to get all the yeast in there. smell is of belgian spice and that slightly musty aroma that comes from Hoegaarden. taste is heavy on lemon-like citrus and tastes very much of the wheat. less spicey than many belgian whites. It's almost like an American Wheat with some lemon added in. It's decent, but nothing spectacular.

Out of a bottle this beer was a cloudy, golden yellow color with lots of suspended yeast visible. The white head quickly dissipated to nothing, and only scant traces of lacing remained. The aroma was a pleasing blend of dry wheat, light spices (coriander in particular), hints of vanilla and traces of orange peel. The flavors were refreshing and very similar to the aroma but the core seemed flat. Balanced and appropriate for the style but aside from the distinct coriander on the finish, the malt and the hops profiles were light and rather uninspired. The mouthfeel was good, the body medium/light and the carbonation fine.

*12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.*

a: the beer is a pale yellow/gold color with some haziness caused by the bottle's sediment becoming suspended. good retention, little lacing.

s: this stuff smells of summertime (unfortunately it's january as i write this). wheat, lemon, spice... a very clean smelling ale.

t: it tastes of sweet, bready malt and citrus.

m: light, effervescent, slightly dry.

d: this beer goes down quickly. i'll buy it again when the weather becomes more conducive to witbier enjoyment.

Orange amber with visible yeast and a nice fluffy white head. Had a nice aroma of banana, clove and bubble gum going on. Slightly sweeter taste than I expected, with a nice floral nose and slight citrus taste. Very refreshing and easy to drink, a great summer beer. Probably not the best witbier I have ever has, but pretty tasty and affordable.

Pours a cloudy and bright golden color with a small creamy white head with below average retention and lacing.
Smell is mildly faint with lemon, orange, coriander and yeast.
Taste is very light with some plain malt upfront spiced with citrussy notes of lemon/ orange and finishing with some coriander. Lots of yeast and spice notes in the aftertaste.
Body is very light and watery with lots of sparkling carbonation.
Mouthfeel is sort of astringent and extremely dry. Drinkability is high.
Overall a very average witbier. Although it sure is a refreshing beer, I found it too light bodied. This definitely needs more malt, more spices and less water and carbonation.

Slightly hazy and golden in color, this is a beer that just looks like it is going to be refreshing. The first taste brings a bit of spice (coriander) with hints of banana, lemongrass, clove and yeast. The beer finishes with a tartness that just calls you back for another sip... another glass... another two glasses, and at 5% Abv this is a beer where you can have a few of in one sitting and still feel fine the next morning. The flavor is so light and refreshing that it never feels heavy on your stomach.

on tap at a bar by udel. review from notes.

Pours with a pale yellow color which immediately turns cloudy with a medium, fluffy head. The retention is pretty strong, leaving a nice lacing along the side of the glass.

The nose is pleasant, but not overwhelming with scents of wheat and lemon grass. There's also a light touch of spice and hops.

Upon the first sip, there's a very crisp, yet smooth feeling which quickly refreshes the palate. A malted wheat taste slices through upfront, with a nice punch of fruit on the back end. Not overly sweet and still satisfies the tongue without overdoing it. However, there is a slightly odd tinge in the aftertaste which kept derailing the flavor for me.

The carbonation is bubbly and pleasant, adding to the overall crispness of the beer. Easy drinking and sessionable, but there's definitely better American interpretations of the style.

Pours ugly yellow with no head, lots of sediment.

Light citrus, the usual suspects - belgian yeast, spice and fruits albeit died down.

Astringent, plenty of spice and subtle fruits. Dulled lemon flavor and sedimentiness. Watery.

Dry, muted finish

Not too refreshing for a witbier, didn't really like this one.

Poured into a tulip.

A: Cloudy straw, with a fair amount of particulates. A dense white cap forms quickly and then rapidly falls to a patchwork film. Leaves no lace.

S: A clove and coriander do most of the work. A light lemon and sourdough mix backs them up.

T: Light, crisp, but a bit thin. Starts out with a sourdough bread quality. The spices kick in right away with a light clove and coriander spike. A lemon tartness comes in late as the beer finishes tart and dry.

M: The light body is grainy from the yeast and could use more carbonation.

D: This beer is light and goes down easily. It simply feels too thin. More carbonation and would help.

S: Smells like bananas, clove and honey.

T&M: The taste is much like the smell. Mild spicy and fruity. Mild sweetness and fairly smooth. Light to medium bodied.

Very drinkable and enjoyable beer.
