Poured into a tulip.
A - the first impression was that I got switched beers. This is one of the lightest color DIPAs I can recall. Light gold fading into an almost cider like clarity. Could easily be mistaken for a pilsner or Belgian blonde. Head is puffy and a nice finger and a half on initial pour.
S - Big bright lemon and some earthy grain. A hint of sour/tart.
T - Very much an extension of the nose, huge lemon with some sweet and tart mixing, not unpleasantly reminiscent of the first sucks on a lemonhead candy. There is an almost saison like farmhouse character on the finish.
M - Somewhat creamy for an IPA, but it works. Perfectly carbonated.
O - A very unique take on a big IPA. Instead of going for a big tropical hop explosion like so many DIPAs, or upping the malts and balancing things out like the East Coast is known for, Victory has created a bold yet delicate brew with elements of US, English and even Belgian beers. But despite it's complexity, it drinks super easy and would be welcome at a meal or hanging with friends. Probably an excellent companion to Dirtwolfas well, as each showcase American hops without sacrificing balance and drinkability, and bring a very different profile to the table.
