Notes/Commercial Description:
Fully juicy in its citrus character with the pleasantly sharp, biting edges of tart fruit and bitterness, Hop Ranch Imperial India Pale Ale traces its roots to Victory’s Ranch series, a unique and comprehensive study of hops in which Brewmasters experimented with different hop varieties to showcase a range of flavor profiles and celebrate the nuances and distinctions in the resulting series’ recipes.

Poured from a bottle into a Stone IPA tulip. The pour is very pale, gold in color with just a hint of orange. There is a nice, tight two fingers of head and good retention. It looks like a good Czech Pilsner. The nose is certainly hop-forward with predominant notes of citrus fruits, especially lemons, pineapples, and oranges.

Medium-light body for such a big beer, but a firm, slightly oily feel that definitely satisfies. There is a slightly dry, cracker-like graininess up front and a well-tempered hop balance at mid-palate. The hops are well-behaved and are not out to vandalize your palate. Rather, they liven things up with a little lemony spice and then join the malt on the finish for a nice, appetizing dryness. Very, very drinkable for the style.

First DirtWolf and then this. Those folks at Victory are killing it right now! While I think I like the sheer, kick-you-in-the-balls-of-your-tongue citrusy glory of DirtWolf, this one is awfully good too. Cheers to Victory!

A: pours a light yellow comparable to a pils. strong lacing and visible sediments in unfiltered. 50% transparency.
s: a very strong tropical fruit on the nose. Pineapple, pepper greens, mango, and a little dank smell.
T: pineapple, orange, pepper, lime, coriander, musty and wheat profile. Some battering hops but not the pine/grass profile common.
M: medium-heavy with some lingering on the tongue similar to a lighter wheat with a unique crispness. Drinkable but a little heavy for my preference.
O: a unique and tropical DIPA that is worth a pack to try. Victory has added another quality IPA to their library

My thanks to my good friend JohnParadee for this bottle.
Poured from the 12 oz bottle into a snifter.
Pours a nice straw color with one finger of frothy white head with nice lacing.
Smells hoppy, floral, some citrus.
Taste is delicious! Lemon zest, hoppiness, mild malt backbone. Incredibly crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. A perfect beer for a warm summer day.
Overall, this is a flavorful and refreshing DIPA. Really liked it a lot.

On tap at several places around Houston, and just recently got a growler from Premium Draught.

A: Pours a lightly hazed yellow/orange color. A well formed, tightly packed white head rises to two fingers. Rings of lace are left behind.
S: Lightly herbal, green tea like up front. Dank, but with a big juicy hop aroma that is great. Pineapple, mango, orange rind. Maybe a bit of sweetness in the middle, with a lingering but enjoyable bitterness.
T: Herbal and floral with a peppery spice up front. Then the juicy fruits take over, which is great. Pineapple is big along with orange rind. The hop flavor is certainly pungent. Though very flavorful. Just a hint of sweetness hides in the background. A huge hop bomb with a ton of flavor and character. Not just late addition bitterness.
M/D: A medium to full body. A great effervescent bite, that is dry for the most part. So crisp and clean. Really enjoyable to drink. This will be gone in no time.

Tons of hop flavor and character. Not just bitterness, which I don't enjoy. This is really well made and enjoyable. Outside of a small tasting, I have not had Dirtwolf but this is impressive enough. Which should be expected with Victory.
