They forgot to turn on the hype machine for this one. Only bothered because it was $4 for a bomber... it's much cheaper per ounce than the overrated Dirt Wolf and the awful Hop Ranch. Pours a clear light orange, two fingers thick creamy white head, settles to a thin layer, a few rings of lace on the glass. Smell: nothing special but (omg!) quite similar to DW -- pine, light biscuity backing, grapefruit peel, floral. Taste: white nectarine, white grape juice (sweet), light biscuit, sweet citrus. Body is pretty light for 7%; finish is fine and hop soaked. Pine burp. This one might be even more like past Victory IPAs. Found the change of wording of the best by date to be quite humorous -- it's now "Enjoy by:", well on my bottle it's actually "[NJOY BY: 06 NOV 2014" and way too far out to be taken seriously. Don't think I'll bother with #2.

Bottle purchased from Nathaniel Square Corner Store.

Pours an copper orange color, with a 3/4 inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like tea and grass, with some floral aromas, and some bready malt aromas as well.

The hop flavors in this are unfortunately muddled. It seems like it can't figure out what kind of IPA it is- is it English? Is it American? I dunno. Some sprucy pine bitterness, with black tea, grass, some grapefruit. None of the flavors "pop" or are that interesting, unfortunately. Seems like this'll be rare miss from Victory.

Light, to slightly medium bodied, with a lingering hop bitterness. Medium carbonation.

I'm sad this wasn't better, I usually love what Victory puts out. I will still try the #2 entry in this series, I hope it will be better.

Had this at Wegmans in Collegeville from the bottle.

This IPA has a lot going for it as many previous reviewers have said.

It's a golden color, almost amber, when poured. I had minimal head as it's poured into a plastic cup (all I had on hand)

Smell is quite citrus/fruity, slight honey.

Taste, there is a lot as I mentioned. Bitter, slight metallic up front but doesn't linger long, so many hop characteristics and dry nature.
Full body mouthfeel with slight bite up front of carbonation.

Overall it's good, I like that Victory is doing this series and I anticipate future varieties.
I LOVE Dirt Wolf, but not a huge HopDevil fan. Their session IPA is solid as well, so Victory knows what they're doing with IPA's.
