Victory's Schwartzwalder Pils pours clear straw-yellow with a puffy off-white head in a pilsner glass. Schwartz Pils is well-balanced - notes of subtle hop and restrained malt. Good use, yet again, of the Tettnang hops. Nice dry finish.
Personally: A good Pils, not quite as flavorful and hoppy as Prima, but it is not supposed to be. I consider this more flavorful than Lager, less than Prima - nevertheless it's very tasty!

This beer was poured with a thick very creamy head. It was a pleasure to look at. It was pretty darn hopped up for a pilsener. People around here tend to like that, but I thought it was inappropriate for the style. More than a normal pilsener would be fine though. It had a good malt taste which finished with the strong hops. The hops taste tasted exactly like the finish from HopDevil, but obviously, with less strength. It was pretty smooth going down the trap.
This was a very enjoyable beer, which I look forward to having again..

Yet another variation in their single-hop pilsener series, this one uses 100% Tettnang Tettnang hops - meaning that they're Tettnang hops specifically from that region. Its bright golden body is capped by a soft, creamy head that holds fairly well and leaves sheets of lace throughout the glass. The aroma is quite hoppy - bright, fresh, resiny, grassy. A crisp carbonation and medium body join to create a full mouthfeel and accentuate its fresh flavors. The flavor teeters - incredibly well-balanced - between grassy, resinous hops and sweetish, grainy malts. And although it's backed by a solid bitterness it's never overwhelming to the palate. The finish is dry and hoppy, leaving a resiny dryness. From its golden hue and creamy whie head to its bitter and resiny hop finish, it's about as authentic a German Pils as you can get outside the walls of a German brewery. Absolutely worth seeking out!
