Quite possibly the most impressive part of this beer is the appearance. Despite being pumped off a cask, the clarity is striking. Showing off is a color as deep, varied, and impressive as a well-stained piece of fine, dark mahogany. The head is soft, even, and leads to good lacing, especially for such a low gravity ale.

Smells is quite light, but understandable as such, with notes of toffee, mild lemony hops, and earthy bits of toasty malt. As for drinking, the flavor is not hard to get. The Dark Mild is made of the second runnings of V-12 with a dash of mashed chocolate malt to make it more appreciably British. With the smooth, roundness of its Belgian roots this beer tastes of a barely sweet toffee with the roasty burl of chocolate malt tossing a strong toastiness through the finish. The hops are present, just barely touching of flavors akin to Styrian Goldings.

Drinkability is good - fairly full-bodied for 3.5% and smooth as water, its a good mild. Cheers for making an incredibly rare style of beer. Try it before the last batch is gone!

Ahhh yes.

The beautiful subtlety of a hand-pulled English-style Ale. An amazing find last night at Victory, for sure. The brew appeared dense, in a light way, with a head that was thin, but still easily seen. Notes of roasted malt and perhaps some toffee filled my brain. A very tasty brew going down, Dark Mild leaves a slight coating on the palate, but only for a short time. A stellar, stellar brew.

Zum wohl!

Another incredible cask offering from Victory. I was told by Phil the bartender, one hell of a bartender, that the recipe has been changed and it is now made from the second runnings of the V10 or V12 mash. Maybe this is brewed from whatever big beer they are making at the time, as I saw someone mention this was made from OldHo second runnings.

Really nice looking beer from the cask. Incredible pillow of a head that is really quite quaffable. Nice dark amber color.

I got some caramel and floral earthy hop notes in the nose.

Really nice flavor. Very light and thirst quenching. Some nice caramel notes and very nice sweet floral hop finish. A touch of fruity yeastyness, but really malt and hops dominate this one. I get some nice tea flavors as well. Really really really drinkable. My new favorite Victory by far. Better than Uncle Teddy's bitter, more complex, but equally drinkable

What a lovely looking and tasting mild served in a full 22-oz pint glass. The appearance is striking; a beautiful contrast between a light looking, remarkably clear, chocolate color body with this almost white, creamy head. The head imparted a collar of lacing throughout the entire enjoyable journey. The aroma although subdued had a hint floral spiceness and malty nuttiness. The taste was of a delicate, delicous combination of a slight sweet toffee and waltnut maple-like flavor. The hops provided a balanced spicey finish. The mouthfeel has this light creamy texture that is so satisfying. It is the quintesential session brew at 3.5% abv. If you love a good British mild, you will love this beauty.

I was told that this was the second runnings from the mash of the V12 with a little chocolate malt thrown in. I also had it from the hand pump which made a great beer even better. Beeeautiful head. Thick and creamy. Medium copper body. The aroma is butter and maple. The same carries through into the flavor is a little nuttiness and fruit. It’s like a stack of pancakes without the full belly. Awesome mild.
