A: A foggy, light chocolate color, with little head to speak of.

S: A slight nutty/mocha aroma.

T: Very rich nutty flavor, with strong chocolate/mocha taste, somewhat reminiscent of cocoa powder. Nice woodsy background.

M: Smooth, but almost no carbonation.

D: Great to drink heartily or to sip, one definitely welcomed another. I'd very much like to compare carbonation in a bottled version,

Served on a a hand pump at the restaurant.

A: The ale is a deep muddy brown color, a few shades darker than creek water. It has a thick two-finger creamy head.

S: The ale has a distinctly nutty malt aroma and some earthy hops.

T: The ale has a nutty malt flavor that hits you up front before yielding to a chocolate flavor. The chocolate notes last fairly long and have an undertone of earthy hops. A very good taste.

M: The malt flavors really dominate the ale, giving it a firm chewy flavor that sits well on the palate.

D: Very drinkable, nothing like the smooth flavors that come from a hand pump.

Enjoyed on cask at the brew pub.
Served as a deep brown colored beer with creamy tannish head.
Smell is nice and roasty, some nutty and caramel notes also found.
Taste shows more of the roasted malt and caramel and is extremely pleasant.
Finishes mild and refreshing in the mouth. No assault on the senses, just a very pleasureable brew.
The perfect session beer that combines drinkability and refreshment in a perfect balance.

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a cloudy ice tea brown color and a thick, foamy tan head; as the head descends to a ringlet and islands it leaves sheets of lacing across the pint glass

Smell: Modest aroma of brown bread and walnuts

Taste: Starts out with an interesting fruity blend of walnuts and brown bread; after the swallow, some earthy bitterness peaks in and balances the preliminary flavors

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low carbonation; slightly puckery

Drinkability: Not being a big fan of the style, I was pleasantly surprised by the range of flavor in this beer - more like a bitter than a typical brown ale in some respects

A bit too light in colour for a brown... the head, however, is a gorgeous 1/2" light brown hue... beautiful.

Not a very strong aroma.... some malt, brown sugar, and perhaps a touch of cinnamon.

Huge cinnamon tones.. loads of maltiness... nice for a chilly day.

I could use this one a bit thicker, but not bad.

Incredibly drinkable, if not particularly memorable.

Enjoyed on tap at the Victory brewery in Downingtown, PA.

A deep brown body with a thick frothy head. Some light allowed to peek through.

Aroma of sweet malts dominates. Rich nutty character is accented by distant hops.

Flavor is incredibly smooth and nutty. Grainy bread, plums, hot coco chocolate, with hops in the background. The dark fruit element of plum carries with it a bit of alcohol.

Overall a quality beer in a style I usually find mediocre.
