New for Victory - a Nitro dispensed on tap version of a dry irish stout. Available ony at the brew pub. A Wicked dark black hole no light penetrating the imperial pint glass. Nice nose (although it's served too cold for my liking) after warming. A very delicate compostion of malt and hop which I got notes of coffee, a wee bit of carmel, and overall I think a nice session brew.

A 2 L swing-top German growler filled at VBC on 1/27/07 on the way home from Belgium Comes to West Chester.

A: The stout is black as night, pouring like a viscous oil. The head has held up well, measuring in close to 1.5 fingers, and leaves a thick web of off-white lace throughout the glass.

S: The aroma is a dry, roasted malt body, concentrated to the point of intensity.

T: The first sip tells me that this is not your father's dry irish stout. Sure there are thick, dry roasted malts that are deep to the point of chocolate. The flavors are interspersed with some caramel notes as well. What sets this apart is the strong hop profile. The hops jump out immediately with the roasted malts, providing an enjoyable sweet 'n' spicy flavor. They remain strong throughout, adding a strong flavor profile of earthy bitterness.

M: The combination of dry roasts and big hops is a great change of pace, adding a level of heat to the malts. The finish is dry, making you want another sip.

D: The insanely low 4% abv is a godsend. It lets the beer pack a wallop flavor-wise without knocking you out.

Enjoyed on nitro-tap at the brewpub.
Served as a deep black beer with impressive tannish head. Great retention and perfect lacing (as would be expected
Smell is a pleasant combination of roasted malt, chocolate and bitter coffee.
Taste is extraordinary with firm roasted malt in the foreground meeting the backgroud malt in a perfect combination.
Finishes with a dry hoppiness leaving a very nice mouthfeel. Rich and creamy from the nitro.
With the low alcohol, perfect drinkability. Great session beer.
Another winner from Victory.

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a black body and a solid head that sheets the glass with lace

Smell: Roasted malt and black bread aroma

Taste: Black bread up front that becomes quite roasty, mid-palate; after the swallow, the roasty flavors build and there is a rather sour finish at the end that is quite interesting

Mouthfeel: Creamy medium body with low carbonation

Drinkability: Everything about this is fine; a very nice and flavorful low abv dry stout
