(on nitro-tap at Devil's Alley, PHL)
A: dark, with requisite creamy nitro-head....cap stayed till the end - no lacing
S: roasty / burnt-toasty grain.... background/support from lemony, potent hops... pretty bold smell from a nitro pour
T: (somewhat) surprising level of hop-forwardness.... combo of naked roasted barley flavor and aggressively-bitter hopping makes for a punchy taste for a low alc. stout.... some hints of biscuity malt, but predominantly a showcase of rigid bitterness
M: suggestively medium intake, light and dry finish.... dry and faintly powdery altogether.... nice, though it could use a touch more viscosity, creaminess
O: pretty decent overall... once again, a surprising level of bright bitterness... not much malt in support, however....

Beautiful upwardly cascading foamy head. I wish all beers used nitrogen. Long lasting off-white head. Very tight, minute bubbles. Dark brown liquid but light does shine through.
Creamy smell. No harsh burnt aromas. Very mild.
There's a bit of a berry taste to the deeply roasted malts. This would be a mellow dry stout for the Irish. It's good but certainly not bold flavor wise. Some cream. The body is neutral for the style and the "carbonation" is high for a nitro.
