(From bottle poured into standard pint glass)
Appearance: crystal clear dark brown malt color. Not much in the way of head, but foam ring lasts a while.
Smell: Muted is the nice way to put it. Get some malty hop notes, but it's really subdued on this one. More malt than hop.
Taste: Hops and malt! Truth in advertising on the bottle. Immediately, piney hop notes with a moderate level of bitterness. Progression into sweet malt middle. A bit "toasty", but not really dark. Finish is long and bitter with a bit of alcohol "hotness" at the beginning. Quite good for what they wanted this to be; a showcase of variatial hops.
Mouthfeel: Moderately viscous. Would not be mistaken for a lighter style.
Drinkability: Other than the mild touch of "hotness", almost dangerously drinkable. But the ABV would really come and bite you in the end. Sip this one.
