Dark burgundy color where it looks very dark brown. Thin head from a careful draft pull.
Large roast, pine hops, and brassy fruits. Pine, earthiness, red apple, and booze.
Sweet, yet hoppy, black ale with awesome fruitiness for the style. Juicy apple, acidic hop oils, copper kettle, basil leaf, sappy pine, alcohol, and tart pomegranate. The beer almost has a hard salinity to it, accentuated in a long and toasty bitter almond finish.
A little boozy, but it's a great warming effect. Medium-plus body and medium carbonation.
Excellent. One of my favorites of the style.

A: Dark brown, almost black with a creamy mocha head.
S: Pine, floral notes, kiwi and citrus in the nose.
T: Kiwi, grapefruit peel, citrus peel, citrus, lemon and grass, followed by roasted malt, espresso and coffee. Pretty much what you want out of the style, but perhaps not the best fruit flavor profile.
M: Full bodied and creamy smooth.
O: I'd prefer tangerine, mango, fresh orange, pineapple, papaya, passionfruit, tropical fruit, etc. mixed with the roasty flavors, but this is still a great beer. I'd definitely recommend it, if you like the black ale style.
