1 pt 6 fl oz bottled poured into tulip glass.

A - Cloudy, straw gold with a half finger head that moves quickly moves to a thin lace.

S - Grape must, funk.

T - Clove, white wine, hay. Notes of pepper and lemon.

M - Somewhat watery, has a back of the mouth sharpness. Carbonation is medium high.

O - Interesting, if not overly complex. I can see this more as a hot summer quencher.

Pours golden orange in color. 1 finger of fluffy white foam that dissipates surprisingly quickly. Nice lacing though.

Aroma is of spicy yeast, cloves, prominent banana, and honey.

Taste is just a little too sweet for me. There is no carbonation tickle or dryness that makes me want to return for another sip. Up front is the spicy yeast, followed by a honey-like sweetness. This is coupled with major bannana near the end of the sip. The finish is mainly just sweetness. Again nothing bites through, not even much citrus.

Overall, this beer is alright and easily accessible. I probably won't buy it again because there are so many better options available. I see it pairing well with a warm peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. It gets a 82/100.

L: It pours a clear straw to gold color with a two finger head that lingers. S: There is a little floral from the hops and ester from the yeast in the aroma. T: Malt and light fruit are well balanced by an assertive hop accent. F: Medium body and carbonation. O: A good, drinkable saison.

DATE TASTED: August 16, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Duvel footed tulip... OCCASION: recovering from a shore trip to LBI... APPEARANCE: a tumultuous twister of bubble stirs the heart of a hazy burnt orange body; head is foamy, white, and full of effervescence, with high arching lacing to boot ... AROMA: banana, clove, soft pepper, and lavender/lilac--complex yet withdrawn... PALATE: to the effect of the aroma, the beer apologizes as it is sipped; foamy and creamy through its great head retention; lively and rounded on the tongue, memorable in its aftertaste with a dry finish... TASTE: clove, banana, vanilla, pepper, grapefruit, apple, biscuit, and some other fruits that are patient yet palpable...the yeasty end suggests dough and read, with floral hops and lemon arriving in waves after the sip has finished... OVERALL: I try not to be biased when drinking big bottles, saisons, or Victory brews, but this glass contains all through with a winning combination--refreshing, complex, vibrant, and flavorful...worthy of a bomber and a Sunday night...

Poured from the 22oz bottle into a snifter.
Pours a medium straw color with good clarity and one finger of head.
Aromas are a lot of funky yeast and mellow malt character.
Flavor is on point as the bottle label describes with lemon and white pepper present.
Finishes clean and dry just as I'd like.
This bottle was not expensive and delivered very nice flavor.

750ml bought from Beers of the World. Hazy gold, tight white head. Aroma of bubble gum. Taste is tangy, bitter, earthy. Mouthfeel is meringue like. This is an interesting, tasty beer.

Looks so good. I never rate a beer's appearance that high but this beer is perfectly clear, has a thick creamy white crown that lasts and leaves a film and ring on top. Body is sunshine yellow. Golden. Nose is sumptuous but fun with lots of fruity citrus, a plentiful hops herbal that is whimsical with pepper and a malt sweetness that is a touch of white bread with honey. Taste is sultry and heady with lemon, the bright lemon peel, the spontaneous herbal. The hops herbal in this beer is like hay or dried grass bit it also has quite a bit of pepper. A perfect tartness that makes the mouth water and a dry and bubbly finish that lets that pepper really tickle. Smooth and at 7.5% it's on the high side for abv but you will find it a pleasant warmth in the swallow. There is a bitterness in this one and it's welcome because of the slightly higher abv. It balances out that alcohol sweetness and bit of extra body perfectly and lets the beer reside in the aftertaste as plentiful in flavor as it was on the palate .

Picked up a bomber from TW Arrowhead in early April for $5.49. No freshness date visible.

Beer poured golden with a nice white head that is hanging around quite long.

Nose is classic farmhouse, hay, citrus, noble hops.

Taste has a touch of tartness, lemon, grass, very light pepper.

Mouthfeel is a tad heavier than a normal saison yet still has the saison effervescence.

Overall a nice beer at a reasonable price. I would definitely try this again.

Very different than any other beer I've ever had. The smell, is great!! The taste, is done what like a Hefeweizen without the wheat taste, however, slightly too much citrus for my taste. Still, excellent beer.

Pours a cloudy golden color with virtually no head. Lacing is minimal. Has the typical farmhouse aroma. Taste of Belgium yeasts with a bitterness at the end. Very bready. Decent saison but not among my favorites. There is something off with the aftertaste.

22 oz bomber

Appearance: Golden straw color with a two finger white head

Smell: Lemon citrus, funky yeast, light spice

Taste: Spices upfront with slight citrus, and a funky yeast and slightly offputting apple aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light body; Crisp with a slightly dry finish

Overeall: Iv been on a streak with great beers this winter, and this is not one of them. I saw that it was $4.99 and figured i couldnt go wrong. I admit im not a big fan of saisons/farmhouse ales, but i found Brooklyn Sorachi Ace and Ommegang Hennepin to be a lot better. I think its the yeast strain in this that turned me off a bit. Victory is normally excellent, but this is probably my least favorite beer iv had from them and most likely wont return.

Very solid offering from Victory.
Looks the part, delightful fluffy white head,
Aromas of lemon, earthiness, a little funk, and all in a light flavoursome package. Hint of dryness on finish.
My only question, does it need to be 7.5%??? Could it be the same beer or nearly at say 6?

Picked this one up at the farmer's market. Really nice hodgepodge of spices and citrus my only complaint may be a little too much alcohol taste in the finish. It would hold it's own against other farmhouse ales that cost double the price.

Very impressed with this year's Helios. I had this back in 2013 and it was just straight saison but now Brettanomyces is making a big statement in this year! It packs a wallop at 7.5%......

Look: Copper sunrise and crystal clear
Smell: Slight tart, noble hops, funk, and slight citrus
Taste: Noble hops, barnyard, funk, and slightly tart
Feel: Dry and palate filling, really nice mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation with champagne-like bubbles.

My take away, which is quite surprising, is that this beer sums up my experience of the 2010 infected Matilda I had which had more of a reddish hue to it with a greater head retention. As it warms from the 30'sF it gets much funkier. I am very impressed and would certainly buy several more bombers of this for the price point of $4.99. It's a steal folks and very well executed.

L-Beautiful golden orange with creamy head.
S-awesome buttery citrus fruit.
T- hoppier than expected for a farmhouse. Great buttery spice bite midway, and citrus hop finish. Not sure if the hop adds or detracts from overall. It definitely makes a unique taste. As I continue, The hop blends more into overall, but still iffy on rating.
F- lots of things happening and it just doesn't blend together.

A- Very golden, copper-esque color. Has a frothy 3 finger head in my tulip glass. The head died to a rim around the tulip, but comes back with minimal effort upon swirl. Lots of small sediment comes here with the bottle conditioning. Good looking alcohol legs and lacing.

S- EPIC!!!!!!! Very barnyard and funky in the yeast. Nice sour note like a good sasion should have. Tart like apples with a nice refreshing lemon note. Pretty grassy and fruity in the hops, but not overpowering at all.

T- NICE!!!!! Same as the smell. I'd say the Belgian beer yeast kind of funk and sour is what I get first. There is a good black pepper spice in this one. Lemony flavors are here as well. I get a nice tartness before it dries.

M- Medium for sure. Extremely crisp and refreshing. True to style, I can't say this beer is clean tasting. But that's not a knock on this beer at all. There is a bit of hop oily quality. But again, it's not hop forward.

Overall this beer has it going on! It's the best saison I've had to date! GO GET IT NOW!

Found this in the basement, was not fresh. Opened the bottle and it gushed. Super funky nose, more malt complexity than I remember. Intensely tart lemon and hay flavors mixed with some pepper and layers of base malts. Brett is there in full force. Really enjoying this one. Surprised how well this evolved considering it was over two years past the enjoy by date. Wish I didn't lose half the bottle, but I should have known it may be a gusher.

22 oz bomber pours a mostly clear gold color with an ample cap of fine-bubbled white head. Decent retention and lace.

Nose is a really nice fruity yeast/grassy hop combo. Malts are a little sweeter and toastier than you'd see in a a perfect farmhouse beer, but overall has a good aroma.

Taste shows the good yeast/hop relationship again in the flavor...I really like the aggressive hop flavor with the lightly tart, fruity yeast. Malts still could use a defter touch I think and just let the yeast and hops do their thing, but as it is, they add a little sweetness that is not altogether unpleasant. This is one of the better American made saisons, very good brew.

08/08/13 From bottle. Surprisingly different from the Victory Sunrise Weiss. This is much more robust & spicy. Very assertive, yet enjoyable. Ever have a very BIG friend. The kind that almost scares people that don't know him? This is like that guy. A gentle giant as it were. Make room.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. This bottle is a year or so old at least. No date to be seen, but it's old label.

A: Very hazy Sundrop yellow color. Creamy white head stands at three fingers. Lacing leaves broken sheets on the glass.

S: light lemony tartness. Dryer malt aromas of short bread and pound cake. A mild and pleasant rustic Brett character blankets everything. White pepper and vague yeasty spice. Wafts of green, grassy hops every so often.

T: Farmy Brett up front. Rustic and funky. Wheaty. Light lemony spritz. Just a slight hint of oily and herbal hops. White peppery spike of alcohol toward the back. Quick flash of tropical ester. A tad medicinal. Crackery malt. Very dry. Funky finish.

M: Very light in body. Dry and very well attenuated. Slight malt firmness, some frothiness possibly due to wheat? Highly effervescent and scrubbing. Some mild alcohol warmth.

O: This one flies under the radar. Where else can you find a 22oz, 7.5% abv Brett saison for around the $5-6 mark per bottle? Perhaps one of the best value buys out there. If you're new to Brett, go to school with this beer. It certainly isn't the epitome of the style, but it's simple, pleasant, easily crushable, and a good introduction to the world of brettanomyces. It is worth noting that this bottle kicked around for a year or two. Brett tends to dry out and funk up a beer with time, so this may be quite a different experience when fresh.

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Yellow color with a slow to settle two-finger head
S: Wheat, yeast and brett
T: Quite bretty with some wheat and yeast underneath. Not much in the hop department
M: Light-bodied, dry
O: Give it a try if you like brett but I'd pass if you don't
