had this at the Blue Monkey Tavern in Merchantville, NJ tonight during a Victory promo night

amber/orange body....lots of tiny carbonation bubbles ...1 finger creamy white head...settled to a quarter inch of retention...thick lace down the glass

orange marmalade...fruity...spicy hop scent....sweet malt base

the fruit scent is present as you pull the glass to your mouth but the flavor quickly be comes a piney tree sap flavor...then a sweet caramel malt pops up in the finish

nice medium body...slight oily feel with a prickly mouthfeel from the carbonation

the scent before you first sip is very nice...thought i just picked up a fresh orange drink...aromatic citrus scents, full-flavored IPA....drank 2 of these and could down at least 2 more...the 6.8% ABV attached to this one was nicely hidden...I wish this one wasn't a brewery only/one off beer

On-tap at Victory Brewing in Downingtown. Pale amber with a 2-finger head which left minimal lacing, some carbonation visible but not too much.

This single-hop beer smelled overwhelmingly of pine, and that carried on into the taste, with maybe a hint of grapefruit as well. It's bitter and dry, with a taste that tingled the back of my tongue and then hop oils lingering in my mouth for a good long time. A great beer--I may have thought I had "pure hop taste" before this, but this was closer to the essence of hops than I knew.

And very drinkable! I might have to make my way back to Victory before this is out.

On tap at Victory on 5/3/09.

A - Clear amber/orange body with lots of tiny bubbles of carbonation and one-finger creamy white head that reduced to a quarter inch of retention and left thick lace around the glass.

S - Fruity and spicy hop fragrance with an underlying sweet malt base. Hops are quite aromatic and suggest hints of pine and resin in addition to some more subtle citrus notes.

T - Piney sap and pungent citrus notes dominate the flavor of this IPA, which segues into a sweet caramel malt character with a hint of peppery spiciness in the backend. Finish is slightly spicy and bitter.

M - Medium bodied with a slightly oily yet effervescent texture resulting in a prickly mouthfeel. Finishes with a warm hop character and a touch of alcohol on the palate.

D - Very aromatic, pungent IPA with a full-flavored albeit unusual hop profile. Another fine IPA from Victory if I must say so.

Pint at Beachwood BBQ Sunday for six dollars, reviewed from notes, my dad and I had a few of these, golden orangish color, 3/4 inch slightly creamy white head, some retention at first, small amounts of lacing, aroma consists of mellow hops, a bit of spice, mild citrus, herbal scents, earthiness, and caramel malt, flavor is fairly dry at first with some pine and earthiness, some mild chewiness with a hint of sweetness in the middle, much more like an English IPA in this sense, some more bitterness in the finish, nice balance and like the neutralness of the malt, medium to full bodied, dry and bitter mouthfeel, low to medium carbonation, great drinkability, seemed more like five percent, no alcohol in the flavor, smooth for the style, would drink again, too bad it is tap only, hopefully they make it for more than just the Craft Brewers Conference, recommended

This is quite a good beer, but not in the usual style or character for Victory - it is like a milder version of a classic West Coast IPA, though the pineapple and citrus is far more subtle, more like a blood orange flavor.

Pours clear golden with slight soapy head. Aroma is sharp, pinepply and clean. Sharp pale malt with a touch of yeast. Flavor is malty and deeply bitter, bready and toasty. Hop flavor is bitter and citric, with the tannic tang of blood orange or grapefuit. Bitterness is lasting and pleasant. Mouthfeel is clean and thin with cling on the end accentuating the bitterness. Orangy.

Enjoyed on-tap at Victory's brewpub on 5/3/2009.

Poured a clear darker amber color with 2 fingers of foamy eggshell colored head. OK retention and some spotty lacing. Smells of dirty pine forest floor, caramel, and bread. Tastes of light grapefruit up front followed by caramel and bready malts. Finishes with a nice bitter earth and pine combination. Medium in body with good carbonation. Bitter and chewy with a dry finish. Easy to drink, a nice slightly different IPA than the usual HopDevil, Wild Devil, and Hop Wallop usually offered at VBC.

Served on-tap at Victory

Pours a rose brasslight copper color, with a thick head that sticks around for a while

Lots of pine and citrus in the nose, a light malt note at the end

The flavor is consistant with the nose, pine and a back-note of citrus, bitter and a bit creamy.

A nice drinking beer, from someone who is not a huge IPA fan. The hop is a strong and elegant flavor, powerful but not overbearing, a nice beer.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a dark gold with a real nice fluffy white head, good lace.

S: Bitter hops, bitter melon, grapefruit.

T: Real light in flavour upfront with some real bitter white grapefruit and citrus pectin/pith in the finish. The aftertaste is where the real taste comes into this beer, but it isn't exciting, it's just bitter for bitter's sake, no complexity.

M: Smooth, resinous in the finish, good bite of tannin in the finish keeps it interesting.

D: A nice brew, but one-dimensional, kind of the opposite of Deschutes Red Chair.
