The tale of two beers... At the brew pub, had a tall glass - and I couldn't say enough about it - extremely refreshing and drinkable, smooth as all.... Bought a growler home to review, and a whole different story. Combining the scores of the two for the rating.
Pours very cloudy gray-yellow, with only faint lacing left from tiny head.
Smell is quite powerful for the style - lemon, orange juice, clove, and black pepper - in your face.
Taste is what suffered most for me via the growler pour - heavy black pepper dominates what little citrus and banana might be there. Almost reminded me of drinking in a thick, smokey bar.
Mouthfeel is sharp, biting, and dry. Not nearly as creamy as the one I had on draft at the bar.
Nuff said - drinkabilty was off the charts in the bar, and I couldn't have more than 1-2 at home.

(From notes)
A - Cloudy light marigold color and poured with a thin white head; head dissipated quickly and no real lacing to speak of
S - Yeasty; bananas really come through; orange/citrus aromas; bit of clove in there as well
T - Banana flavor comes up first and dominates; light citrus flavors; yeastiness toward the end
M - Creamy is the word here; very light carbonation
D - OK, not as refreshing or tart as I would like for the style; and a tad sweeter than I like as well
Overall, not a terrible example of the style, but it seems like a miss.

On tap at he Victory Brew Pub (CBC Saphire Weiss).
Poured a lighter and hazy yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of spices, bananas, wheat, and sweaty. Tastes of the same spices, wheat and bananas. Some lacing was left on the glass.

Served on tap at the Harrisburg Brewers Fest.
A: The weissbier is a pale gold color, opaque from a cloudy haze that never settles down. A small head, less than a finger, never amounts to much.
S: The nose has a light wheat aroma that is punctuated by a bold earthy hop aroma. The bite of the hops is enough to cause a double take, such a light ale rarely supports this much bitterness.
T: The hoppiness of the ale is evident up front, earthy with herbal flavors. The wheat doesn't take a break, bringing a full flavor to the end of each sip. Mixing with the wheat is barley to create a cereal finish. I like the hops on the front end.
M: The mouthfeel is active, moving from hops to wheat and barley in a relatively short order. The saphir hops start things off with a bang.
D: Another beer that I had several glasses of, a pleasant citrus hop bite on a smooth wheat beer.
