A: This brew was served to me in it's custom 22 ounce Willi Becker glass. With a copper and reddish tone, the body was opaque and very carbonated.

S: Somewhat fruity to the nose, the German (Munich, Vienna, & Pilsener) malts and whole flower European hops were notable at the start.

T: Similar to Anchor Steam's Steamboat Lager, this lager tasted mildly fruity with a malty backdrop. The malts and hops were not overbearing which made every sip just as enjoyable as the next.

M: The smell of fruit and malts influence the initial taste of the copper lager. It starts out fruity and ends with a carbonated malty and mildly hoppy flavor. Overall it had a fine complexity.

D: I would definitely order this brew again. There is a P.J. Whelihan's right down the road and I can see myself having quite a few of these down the road. It complements any hearty meal, along with their critically acclaimed chicken wings. (922 characters)

First had: on tap at P.J. Whelihan's, Haddonfield, NJ

Brewed by Victory for PJ Whelihan's, as the name would imply. Poured a clear, copper-amber color with a thin, fizzy head, fed by obvious carbonation. Smell of grains, pils malts, and light floral hops; very light. Light body and light taste, sweet German and pils malts, lightly hopped with floral and slight citrus accents. Nothing special, but drinkable at least. (420 characters)

Had the pleasure of one of these before dinner, tapped in front of me into a beautiful 23 oz. glass.

Pour - looks like great carbonation, smoothe pour and nice head. Two and three fingers all around with fine lacing. Name is fitting - color is a warm copper, dangerously close to a red.

Nose - didnt get a good smell because of the atmosphere - fried bar food ruins beer aroma.
For the sake of the rating, ill give it an objective middle of the road.

Taste - sweet, carmel nuttiness with a fine smoky twist. A good spice flavor with not too much maltiness and a a sweet, sweeping hoppy finish. Works great to cleanse the palate. I am impressed with everything about the taste of this lager. Really typifies the true bold flavor of a well thought out amber lager. Complex but doesnt over do it.

Mouthfeel - simple, smoothe and perfectly carbonated. The end got tough but I think that had more to do with the previous 22 oz.

Drinkability - cold, honest and a victory for anybody looking for a great amber lager. Stands up to the Yuenglings and the Sam Adams's of the world.

Cheers!!! (1,094 characters)

P.J.W Copper Lager

LOOK: Pours a rich clear amber. Soapy white foam forms and has a good staying power. For an amber lager, this fits the bill.

SMELL: Lager yeast , fresh hops, bread, caramel malts.

TASTE: Rich, highly caramelized malts, a bit of floral, earthy hops and some bread are the primary flavors. Probably all malt, but does have a good deal of graininess as well. Lightly bitter, easy drinking beer. Medium bodied and well carbonated.

OVERALL: A decent go to lager, especially when at a p.j. Wellingtons location. Solid contract beer, would certainly have it again some day. (589 characters)
