Nothing tastes quite like summer like watermelon and hops. As soon as brewers figure out how to use either of these in all summertime beers then the better off our summers will be. Hey, wait- here's one...
Summer Love pours like the style's namesake perscribes- golden. And bright golden at that. Showing off those bright and shiny rays, this sunny beer sheds a creamy stark-white head and slathers the glass with random speckled lacing. Its long retention speaks slightly to the world of IPA.
Aromas of tea and cannabis leap out immediately, and with a quick follow of tobacco and marmalade. Its "blonde" character offers a tepid honey and grain support that ties all those earthy and fruity scents together.
Yet inversely, its that melange of grain, malt and honey that greets the palate first, buffering it from the spicy hops that follow. First, a citrusy component grows with pink grapefruit, oranges, juniper and lemon. As the taste turns to bitter- a spicy, woodsy and peppery notion concludes the taste, especially after the sweetness subsides. What's left is the herbal mayhem of sassafras, bark, leaf, grass and bodacious buds.
Early creaminess is the result of dissolved carbonation into residual sweetness. But once that carbonation expels and the sweetness fades, the hops dry the taste while alcohol spices things up in a minty sort of way. Leaving echoes that strike the senses as catty and chive-like though that peppery bitterness tramples on.
With all that hoppy goodness, Victory should get away from any notion of this being a Blonde Ale and would be better suited to advance the hop structure in all- aroma, flavor and bitterness and lighten the body to make Summer Love a "session" IPA. Its 3/4 there already!

Served from 12 oz. bottle that I purchased as part of a build your own 6-pack, I poured this beer into a beer mug.
A- This beer is a nice light yellow color with a light to moderate white head with hardly any lacing as I began to drink this beer down.
S- The smell of this beer ok it is pretty on par with the smell that you would expect from a beer of this kind which was an earthy smell with hints of citrus and a bit of yeast scent as well.
T- This beer tastes very good, it is almost exactly what I would want to drink on a hot summer day at a barbeque or ball game. It tastes similar to the smell with the addition to a bit of hoppiness which is a nice refreshing addition.
M- A sip of this beer has a feeling of a little bit of carbonation which feels nice on the tongue and that amount of hoppiness does not leave your mouth overly dry which is essential for a summer beer.
Overall, this is a good looking and tasting beer that would certainly quench your thirst on a warm summer day. While it doesn't do anything particularly special or different it stays true to its style and was an overall enjoyable drinking experience.
