This brew pours a clear straw color with a small white head, some of which lasts as a collar. There is also some light lacing. Good carbonation.

The smell is malty with floral hops mixed in. There appear to be some light peppery hops as well. The smell is crisp and clean, very lager like.

The taste follow the nose with strong malts and light hops mixed together; no particular taste stands out. I guess you could say it is well blended. There is a soapy, anti-stringent finish and yet there is also a crisp, clean lager like element.

Overall there is a lot going on here and I can't figure out exactly what it is. This is a very drinkable hot day, at the beach beer. (673 characters)

Poured from 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: straw yellow hue with a touch of haze and a good effervescence. Head is a thin layer of white foam that didn't stick around terribly long. Decent for the style.

Smell: grainy and slightly floral; it almost seems like there's some light spicing here, maybe? It's quite refreshing.

Taste: much like the aroma with a slightly grainy and quite floral flavor. It works for me in this style.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a big carbonation and surprising creaminess, especially for the style. Actually, it's quite amazing. Love it!

Overall: a highly drinkable and refreshing summer ale. Recommended. (669 characters)

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, golden-greenish color with a big ole head and lots of lacing. Smells bready, tastes of hops, lemon rind, black pepper. Too bitter for my taste, thanks. (198 characters)

Biscuity, with a hint of fruity, grassy, and floral hops. Looks brilliant in the glass, billowing head with a clear gold body. Dry finish, overall a solid example of the style and very fitting for the season. (208 characters)

T-fruity, semi bitter. Grapefruit taste with a hint of lemon.
F- feels like a beer. A bit too frothy. (173 characters)

A- a golden yellow. Bright color. 1 finger head.
S- I sorta get where people say it smells of hay but I smell a sour spoiled sent. Like a sour fairy smell. I have only smelled sweet hay.
T- a little tang. A little wheat beer flavor to me minus the clove and orange taste.
M- nothing to really get excited about here.
O- not for me. But don't want to skewer it here. I'm sure plenty of people could get into it. I don't like the taste. (439 characters)

Brilliantly clear like apple juice, same color. Snow white head, nice lacing. Lovely aroma like spearmint, fresh hay. Taste is slightly spicy likea hybrid of German and West Coast Hops. Original, Summery, delicious. (216 characters)

It's an okay summer brew. I was expecting something more from Victory. Certainly not worth the $12 you'd pay for a sixer of this here in South Philly. (150 characters)

a: its a clear straw yellow color, with a thin 1/4 bright white head

s: straw, crackery sweet malt, a light strawberry, slight juicy toffee

t: its crisp right as it hits the tongue. taste is pale crackery malts, caramel, lemongrass, a nice (yet faint) grainy/earthy/grassy flavor. on the back is a very mellow teabag-like bitterness, with a floral hop note

m: its on the heavier side of light. medium carbonation

o: its a crisp, light, and non-offensive beer. its the kind of beer that a seasoned beer drinker, or a craft-rookie could like. as the name suggests, it definitely works for a summer afternoon. its a grainy, sweet, and light beer. easy to drink, and easy to put a few back (696 characters)

12oz from Brewers Haven.. Clear straw golden, wispy white head... Grainy pale malt and light grassy hops. Sorta sweet finish... No flaws really, but just nothing I will ever seek out again.

Was more hoppy then expected but hey, it's by Victory. Not an overbearing hoppy bitterness that has left me not liking hop beers. This is tolerable for those that are not hop lovers! A great summer beer. Light and refreshing. (225 characters)

Such an underrated beer. There is a reason why session IPAs never measure up. It's because "session" and "IPA" are two diametrically opposed concepts. What bugs me though is the fact that beers like this can fly under the radar while people continue chasing a completely unnecessary dragon.

This isn't an IPA, but it's got a nice hop bite, both noble (at the front) and American (at the finish), a feat which I find amazing. It's got a solid aroma, and great flavor all packed into a 5.2% package. This beer is absolutely perfect for summer consumption. Literally all I need in my fridge when the temp starts to rise. (618 characters)

I had this about a week ago and likely won't have it again. I'm a big fan of other Victory offerings, but I prefer their other hoppier styles. That's not surprising since I don't usually favor blonde ales. (206 characters)

Picked up a single in early June from Total Wine for $1.99. Enjoy By 9-9-2014.

Beer poured golden with an OK white head that is leaving some lacing behind.

Nose has hints of citrus on top of the malt bill.

Taste was surprisingly hop forward. Floral and citrus are meld in nicely with the malt bill but linger in the after taste. Well done.

Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated and refreshing.

Overall this is a really nice summer beer. Light and refreshing but a lot of flavor. Nicely done. (494 characters)

BB 20 Nov 14 bottle at 40degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma of light malt
Head small (1.2 cm), off white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to 4 mm ring and broken I mm layer
Lacing virtually none – very few very small islands of tiny bubbles
Body light yellow, hazy
Flavor of lightly toasted malt, slight hops bitterness; no hops flavor, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation

Appearance 3, Aroma 3.25, Flavor 3, Palate 3, Overall 3.06. Final weighted score: 3.0625

Served on tap into a nonic glass.

A- Poured a very clear and light pale yellow color with lots of streaming carbonation, white frothy head left glass-coating lace.

S- Bug burst of citrusy hops and lemon-grass notes. It smells like Amarillo hops.

T- Big bright citrusy and grapefruit hops balanced with a really nice cracker malt backbone. Some pungent hop character on the finish, but it does not linger.

M- Super refreshing, dry, medium body, and smooth.

O- This is really nice hopped-up summer beer that is very refreshing. (532 characters)

Victory Summer Love has an ABV of 5.2% and is referred to as a Golden Ale on the brewer’s website.

Appearance: Very pale straw color, slightly cloudy, with a thin had that laces a bit

Smell: A light malt aroma comes through first and persists through a hint of noble or European hops

Taste: Reminiscent of a Kölsch, with German hops coming through an intentionally malty profile, but hoppier. An American hop bitterness persists in the finish, but the malt backbone hangs in also. This is NOT what I expected from its light, thin pour.

Mouthfeel: Surprisingly malty, a bit yeasty, and more substantial than I’d expect of an American Blonde Ale

Overall: A good beer for a summer evening – refreshing, not too distracting, and yet worth paying some attention to (784 characters)

DATE REVIEWED: August 1, 2014... GLASSWARE: pint... OCCASION: finding a new favorite show in Drunk History at State College...APPEARANCE: pale, almost wan, weak yellow car body; pillowy white, single-finger head that thins rather quickly... AROMA: sharp banana; damp yeasts with some funk--a wet blanket? noticeably light malt scents--not very alluring ... PALATE: medium-bodied; oily and palpably gritty; smooths out over the course of the glass draining; refreshing overall ... TASTE: light, spritzy lemon; a bit doughy for an ale; the funk in the aroma bleeds into the taste--odd dish detergent lingers... OVERALL: an oddly spotty offering from Victory--sharp and slightly abrasive with the overall experience rounding out the profile with some acceptance, but a mix of scents and tastes that do not seem to coexist peacefully... light enough to fit the season, but not large enough to occupy attention or demand a revisit.... (929 characters)

Draft pour at the wonderful Duckworth's, Park Road in Charlotte, NC...

Pours a lovely golden color with sticky white lacing. Super light brew - and dry as a bone. At 5.2% this is a great little session ale, easy enough for everyone and complex enough that I found it entertaining. Very nice summer brew - if you're going to be out on a boat, at the beach, wherever - this wouldn't be a bad choice. Give it a shot - nice beer. (426 characters)

Girlfriend got me a single of this in a mixed pack, actually drank it on the beach.

I must say for a Summer/Blonde its pretty tastey. Seemed to have a little bit of a noble hop bite, kinda grassy, which I dug, nice and carbonated, much tastier than a Bud/PBR/ect. Had a more present malt body than would be expected, nice and bready. I probably would normally purchase something local/cheaper if going in this category but its one of the better "summer beers" out there. Quite quaffable. (488 characters)

Pours out a brassy gold with a moderately sized head. Smell is grainy with an odd hop smell. Hops have an herbal scent. I'm assuming that it's also the hops, but I'm picking up an odd, brothy aroma. Kind of like onion skins. Not feeling the smell. Taste is an improvement. Solid herbal/floral hops with a cracker grain malt body. Finish is clean, with slight ale yeast fruitiness. Mouthfeel is moderate overall. Overall this isn't bad, except for the weird aroma. (463 characters)

Light amber in color, topped with two fingers of foam. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is hop forward, and there are undoubted American hops at work (checking the hop bill... Yep: Citra and Simcoe, plus Tettnang). Primarily citric character of grapefruit rind, a little bit of tangerine. Bready malt aroma.

The flavor profile is reminiscent of another Victory brew: Headwaters Pale Ale. Citric and grassy hop flavors upfront followed by crisp, light malt. APA-like bitterness levels. Light body with brisk but soft carbonation.

Hopheads should give this a look. Much more hop-forward than the usual summer seasonal blonde ale, which tend to be somewhat bland. (663 characters)

Bottle from Harvest Market
Pours a pretty clear deep straw color with a good sized tightly bubbled white head that recedes to form a cap on top. Aromas of bready and light caramel malts with a solid floral spicy hop to counter. The flavor is rich sweet bready malts with a bit of earthy spicy hops. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Wow I really enjoyed this beer! Extremely clean, simple, but quite flavorful at the same time. (443 characters)
