Bottle shared by Lee – thanks!
Pours a clear golden color with a white head that leaves decent lacing.
Smells of light malts with good amounts of pears, green apples, and white pepper. Also present are hints of musty hops.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Crisp light malts up front are joined quickly by ripe pear flavors. Midway through white pepper and hints of other indistinct spices come into play before they’re tempered by earthy and slightly musty hops. The hops carry through to a mildly bitter ending. Mouthfeel is good, with active carbonation.
Overall I think this beer was more crisp than the saison that is now retired. It could use some refinement but is worth a shot how it is if you see it around.

A: Pours a yellow color with loads of head - easily a couple of fingers. Head disappates but does keep a layer on top. Chunky lacing on the glass.
S: Spicy, citrusy aroma.
T: Really quality Saison and reminds me a lot of their Saison du Buff - good garden spice, grass, citrus. Really refreshing yet loads of body.
M: Creamy yet light.
O: Awesome brew and great this one is brewed regularly.

Tasted this on-tap at the brewery, then got a growler to take home. Poured into a snifter.
A: Pours a bright, golden yellow/orange straw color with about a finger and a half of soapy head.
S: Lots of spice, Belgian yeast, some herbal aromas, and some definite notes of grass and perhaps hay.
T: Belgian yeast, some spice, and wheaty-tasting malt give way to an earthy bitterness and more pronounced grassy flavor. The malt and hops linger on the palate after each sip.
M: Medium body, crisp, and refreshing.
I haven't had very many saisons, but I enjoy this and I'll definitely look forward to trying it again.

Ontap @ Victory Brewing, new beer that debuted in March 2011
Appearance: Served in a large weizen glass. Cloudy murky golden beer, nice soapy head and lace all the way down.
Smell: Grassy, herbal, hay. Spot on for style snd enticing to say the least.
Taste: Noble hops lending an earthy bitterness and grassy notes. Wheat malt, hops, Belgian style yeast. Not so funky as it is grassy, wheaty and somewhat bitter. A nice saison.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp, clean, smooth, refreshing.
Overall: An impressive Saison. On the menu this was listed as one of the new seasonals and it did not disappoint. I liked this one a million times more than the confusing Saison du Buff.

One of the CBC beers on tap at the brewery. Pour is transparent amber with creamy white head. Malt based nose, sweet and sugary. Honey yeast, and a nice zesty spice with an herbal hop back and touch of soap. The taste is light yeast, honey, a little sugary, a fair bit of zesty spice, notes of corrander, lemon, herbal tangy hops and a touch of bitterness. medium creamy body with light carbonation and fairly dry.

One of the 2011 Craft brewing Conference beers. Pours a darker gold. My notes say "bright, lively, yeasty, fruity, spicy." The finish was fairly heavily spiced and quite yeasty. This was nice but probably my least favorite of the 2011 CBC beers.

on tap at devils den in philly
Pours a fairly clear burnt orange with a fluff of white head, fades to cloud of retention with ringed layers of lacing.
Scents of pear, floral hops, fruit juiciness, apple skin, clove and spice.
Slight bite of floral hops with herbal base and peppery spice. Lots of fruit with pear, apple, and orange. Some bready malt with honey and caramel, fairly sweet overall. Finishes with a floral hop punch and residual fruit sweetness.
Medium body, decent carbonation, slightly creamy. Drinks nice, a bit sweet but otherwise a nicely balanced saison.
