A: This poured a clear dark copper with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like lots of oak and sweet caramel and honey wheat bread, with some coconut and cocoa powder.
T: It tasted like a mouthful of oak, with some sweet caramel and cocoa powder, and maybe some latent hops? It had a fairly smooth bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Kind of thin body.
D: This was a tasty brew but didn't blow me away like some other notable bourbon barrel barleywines. The scent and taste were nice, but the oak dominated and squashed any delicate complexity. The body was weak too. The finish was pretty smooth with well hidden alcohol, so it was easy to drink. Wish it was more worth sipping. Maybe age would help. Good not great fresh.

Appearance - Brilliant, deep amber, off white ring leaves the most minimal lace.

Aroma - Oak, bourbon, malt

Taste - Similar to aroma, with the addition of vanilla and chocolate covered cherries and malt. Sweet.

Mouthfeel - Boozy at the front, medium bodied, oily.

Overall - Sweet, bourbon, night cap, booze, a year or two would do this wonders.

Served in a an Elysian tulip.

A: Poured a bright, ruby red, fairly clear, and with a slight beige head. Looked very much its non-BA counterpart.

S: Nice, silky, coconuty, bourbon quality, with more than a hint of vanilla. Really nice.

T: Ha! It's so great that even though this is a thick, rich, bourbon-laced brew, I can still detect Victory's signature profile: yeasty, CO2 goodness!

M: Sweet, but not too, the carbonation was nice and low, and the hop component was VERY subdued. This was almost an English BW.

O: Definitely a keeper and well worth the $12.99 price tag.
