12 oz bottle into a .5 liter HB glass.
A--Hazy yellow. Very nice head that dies off into a light white coating. Lacing reminiscent of an actual quality Belgian.
S--If Saisony is a word, that's what it smells like. Lemony citrus is predominant. Some spiciness, mostly pepper. Some grassiness as well.
T--Awesome!! All of the smells come through in the taste, followed by some earthy "saisoniness". This is the best American Saison I've come across by far. The closest to a Belgian I've tasted.
M--Foamy/creamy mouthfeel from high carbonation. A bit of tannic tartness at the end. On further reflection, perhaps better than the 3.75 I rated it.
O--Absolutely awesome. This is by far the best American example of a Saison I've come across. I'd actually say that this is fighting it out for 2nd place after DuPont's Saison. Screw the rest of Belgium.
P.S. I'm just a bit biased towards Victory products. But only because they honestly do rock.

App: pours yellow-gold like a filtered wheat ale; tame lacing, with no sediment

N: grapefruit bomb, citrus pith, lemon and clementine zest, melon, cedar, white flowers, white pepper, salicylic acid.

T: lemongrass, grapefruit, clementine, lemon peel, white wine vinegar.

M: dry, tart, zesty, slightly metallic, buttery filmy, finish a la movie theatre popcorn, sharp initially ending with rich undertones.

O: a pleasantly bright, aromatic and tart saison! It's the love child of Australian Sauvignon Blanc and oaked, Napa Chardonnay.

Pairings: Dry enough for fish, white fowl and mixed nuts, bright enough for salads, fruits and cheeses, serve early in a meal. Not sweet, but citrusy and acidic enough for white wine appropriate foods.

12 ounce bottle w/freshness/bottling date info

Pours hazed medium tangerine, with looser off white froth, staying at about the 1/8 of an inch level. Leaves some low sheeting, and typical strands of lace.

Effervescent and lemon infused nose.

Pepper, oranges and bright lemon on the palate. Ginger and lime in the finish. This is a fresh tasting and spiced up saison. Nice summer sessioner, probably a real nice fit with some tangy cheese, raw shell fish, salads. You get the picture

Color / Carb = like a very pale Easter egg yellow dye, with moderate foam

Smell = muted fruity / hops

Taste = hits you initially, then lingers (too much) in a bad way (again, not a hop lover); light with dry aftertaste; 1.5 rungs above your standard domestic lager with some added fruit/floral flavor. Refreshing ? Enough, or moreso, barely.

Just noticed the laundry list that Victory now puts out, and my hopes now rest on the Victory Altbier offering that I saw advertised with Sierra Nevada Beer Camp tour / 12 pack coming July-2014.
