Golden color in the glass with a touch of amber. Plenty of foam and a pleasant pricly mouthfeel. Lovely nose of cloves without too much of it on the tongue. Spicy and very light bodied without a hint of fruitiness. Bitter aftertaste. Quite hoppy. Light but unmistakable barnyard funk.

Thoroughly interesting light beer, but it's the driest Saison I've ever tasted. Pleasant brett flavor. It reminds me of Green Flash Rayon Vert, with the dry funkiness. From the 12 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in San Diego.

Color / Carb = like a very pale Easter egg yellow dye, with moderate foam

Smell = muted fruity / hops

Taste = hits you initially, then lingers (too much) in a bad way (again, not a hop lover); light with dry aftertaste; 1.5 rungs above your standard domestic lager with some added fruit/floral flavor. Refreshing ? Enough, or moreso, barely.

Just noticed the laundry list that Victory now puts out, and my hopes now rest on the Victory Altbier offering that I saw advertised with Sierra Nevada Beer Camp tour / 12 pack coming July-2014.

Victory Swing

Victory for your taste

Poured into pint glass

A: Nothing spectacular. straw color. Rather clear. Similar to an adjunct.

S: Pleasant smelling saison style beer with notes of wheat, citrus and pepper.

T: Delicious flavors of lemon, grass and some spices as well. On the light side of tangy to tart.

M: Light bodied as was expected. Crisp and dry finish

O: An enjoyable saison. Will be nice this spring/summer season. Glad I bought a six of this. Victory does no wrong !

Golden yellow. Clear with minimal head retention.

Took me a minute to place it, but the aroma is basil. Like sticking your face into a basil plant, basil. Not sure I've ever smelled a beer like it. Perfect combination of citrus, pepper and grass to create a unique aroma.

Taste is lemony and grassy with a dry hop finish. Noticing a hint of melon as it warms.

Substantial fine carbonation that enhances the refreshing quality of the taste.

Overall a nice, refreshing beer. Would have liked some of the peppery spice from the scent to have made it into the taste. Nevertheless, a nice front porch sipper for the first day that feels like spring in Ohio.

A: Pristine flat gold coloring, has healthy rise of carbonation medium dense in nature. Light, milky beige heas is creamy, slight in size with a weak hold. Light speckled lace on the glass.

S: Sweet manderin oranges, sugar topped grapefruit, honey-dew with some light citrus muskiness.

T: Flavor was musky citrus, light banana yeastiness, biscuity, tart citrus and some barnyard musk. Pilsner grains, slight funk, bright lemons with some musky undertones of grapefruit. Flavor was sharp, fairly crisp.

M: Crisp mouthful, tart, musky warmth of lemons with a medium body.

O: Overall lots of tart and musky nature packed in a 4.5% abv package makes for a great session style saision.

(on tap at Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen - served in a goblet, a la Stella Artois)

A: gold liquid, relatively clear... tight, white, cottony foam - lotta foam at first, little retention, little lace

S: moderately-intense floral hoppy-phenolic notes... perfumy cloth.... light-toasty grain, dry hay

T: mild bubblegum, white grape... spicy bitterness... lingering herbal, peppery aftertaste - grapefruit zest and lightly-sweetened granola as well... overall, moderately fruity but very dry

M: tiny bit of grainy body up front... very crisp and clean, perhaps a bit watery in the finish... bit of a citrus-acid residue left on the palate

O: refined, quite easy to drink... very much a Saison in its flavor characteristics... they did manage to pack a lot of flavor into this beer, though maybe nothing unique (had some strong similarities to Dupont) - but it's hard to knock it... something to keep in the cooler at a bbq
