Picked up three single 12oz bottles from Baron's Market in Point Loma for $1.99 each. Poured into a Forestinne branded tulip glass.

Pours a hazed straw-like hue with a thin white head that dissipates within a few sips, decent lacing. Smell is mild but what comes through is nice - jasmine tea, citrus, wheat, light funk. Very floral flavor up front, lemon and orange zest, herbal and slightly medicinal pepperiness on the finish. Almost tart mouthfeel, lightly effervescent, on the lighter side of medium bodied, finishes dry.

Great spring/summer season beer, and with the lower ABV - you can put a few back and still mow the lawn!

Pours a hazy golden yellow. Thin film of white head. Leaves a nice lacing.

Nose of bready malts, lemon rind and that farmhouse Belgian yeast funk.

Taste is more of the same with a medium body and grassy character. Bread up front and finishing with spicey phenols. I'm not able to tell what is from the yeast and what has been added.

Very easy to drink on this especially hot and humid day. Very solid saison from Victory.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.

a: Translucent gold with an inch white head which slowly receded to a fairly even surface foam film with medium ring and extensive lacing. Looks like it ought to be a good quality summer drink.

s: Mild light citrus.

t: Soapy-sourness which becomes a bubble-gummy vaguely flavored meh.

m: Refreshingly light to medium.

o: In the same class as many of the mainstream fruity summer beers. Whatever spices were added muted the fruit flavor into something undistinguished.

OTOH it does kind of grow on you as you drink it, and the lacing continues to broadcast quality. Just would not be my personal warm weather pick when there are so many excellent IPAs, pale ales and pilseners out there.

That said, I LOVE Victory Hop Wallop!

Undated 12 oz bottle into a Piraat tulip glass.

A: Pours a slightly hazed golden color. The white head has moderate size and duration but leaves ample lacing on the glass. High carbonation by appearances (and feel).

S: Plenty of lemon and other citrus with coriander and a background of grass, hops and wheat. Nice complexity for a 4.5% saison, albeit not very appealing.

T- Notably tart and fruity with some lemon zest, coriander, hay, banana, and vague spices. Rather sour and bitter aftertaste.

M- light bodied with crisp, high carbonation; dry finish.

O- a flavorful Saison that is too spiced to serve as a session beer for some. Nice and reffreshig, nonetheless, on a hot summer day.

A: bright straw to gold in color. Two finger bright white head. Some lacing present. Gorgeous.
S: earthy and rustic. Notes of lemon/citrus, bread and a peppery spice. Complex and interesting.
T: lemon and spice dominate and leave the malts asking for more relevance. Closes with a earthy/floral burst and pepper burn.
M: medium to high carbonation and a light body. Very crisp and refreshing. Bitter and spicy hang.
O: complex and refreshing, however more balance is in order. This is perhaps a bit too spicy and limits your desire to have more than one on those hot days.

A- Pale straw color with a slight haze to the body. Huge, fluffy white head that lingers around and leaves a ton of lacing.

S- Belgian yeast, citrus, pears, ginger, herbal tea, other spices.

T- Belgian yeast up front, with a blast of spices immediately after that initial taste. Lots of orange and citrus mixed in as well, but the peppery spice is a bit too much.

M- Very good light-medium body with perfect medium carbonation.

O- Good for what it is, but the spice is just a bit too much in my opinion. Close to being great, but still not bad.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a mildly hazed straw color. The head is a fluffy two finger white shade that collapses pretty quickly, but leaves nice lacing on the glass.

S: There is a decent amount of complexity here for a 4.5% saison. I pick up coriander, orange peel, grassy hops, sage, and black pepper. However, there's also a vegetal green pepper note that's detracting - and even worse, it gets stronger as it warms up.

T: This is weird. It opens up fairly citrusy - which I like - but ends on both a watery and a vegetal note. Decent (if overdone) spicing in the middle gives way to a bell pepper finish that really rubs me the wrong way. The flavor profile sorely lacks balance and cohesion.

M: Very clean and dry, which I like. Very astringent too, which I don't. This beer seemingly parches the palate excessively in the name of drinkability. Ah well, the latter is good, at least.

O: Swing...and a miss. This one was quite disappointing, considering Victory makes another saison that's really damn good. And it's another damning reminder that they really need to put Helios in 6-packs!
