From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on August 11, 2013.

It pours your basic pale yellow with a full, fluffy white head and mildly cloudy. The head lingers.

Loads of herbal aroma including Rosemary, German Thyme, Bay, and Savory. Pale malts and citrus zing in there as well. Just very interesting on the nose like a potpourri.

The body is medium and smooth.

The taste is as herbal as it smells with a pleasant toasted pale maltiness, slightly lemony, and a low to moderate hop bitterness at the finish. I enjoyed it and would drink it again.

From: Binny's, Bloomington, IL
Date: Best by August 2013
Glass: New Belgium globe glass

A delicious and easily drinkable saison, with well-balanced saison yeast influences with hop and spice inclusions. The result is a moderately light saison that drinks exceptionally easy. Victory has a solid recipe with Swing Session, one I'd happily return to again in the future.

Pours a 1.5cm tall head of clean, white foam, made up of small-sized bubbles, creating a dense-looking, frothy mass atop the body of the beer. Retention is slightly above average at about one and a half minutes, fading to a thin remnant of lace that lingers atop the beer for the entire session. Lacing is quite good, with a fairly dense matrix of medium-sized dots and washes of lace clinging to the sides of the glass. Body is a strong golden yellow color, quite hazy (60-70% opaque) with light bringing out brighter, slightly less strong golden yellow hues. Carbonation is readily visible through the body, rising in significant numbers strongly from the center of the glass.

Aroma is slightly musty and yeasty (of the saison-type strain), with coriander, dried lemon and orange zest, and a bit of herbal hoppiness as well. Light, but not insubstantial, and readily enjoyable.

Well-executed flavors: moderately heavy saison yeast influences mingle with much brighter coriander and citrus zest to produce a fairly balanced beer, lightened by the sweetness remaining from the malts. Front of palate finds light mustines and saison yeast flavors with pale malt sweetness, hints of coriander and dried citrus zest. Mid-palate of zesty coriander and dried lemon zest with pale malt sweetness and substantial yeast and mustiness. Back of palate experiences strong coriander, citrus zest, white pepper spiciness, musty and saison yeast flavors, with light hop bitterness. Aftertaste of moderate hop bitterness, slightly musty and strong saison yeast, and mild sweetness and coriander flavor in the background.

Beer is medium-light in body, with carbonation of medium intensity, resulting in a slightly effervescent, then foamy and slightly smooth mouthfeel. Closes dry, with substantial stickiness lingering on the lips and palate.
