Pours a straw yellow color with a fairly decent sized white head. There are a fair amount of bubbles coming up, and the head lasts for a few minutes before reducing down.

Smells floral, yeasty, and a bit of a smell of hay.

Starts out with a mix of spice and citrus. There is a bit of pepper and finishes with a hop bite, leaving some bitter aftertaste.

Nothing to complain about with the feel, there is a bit of tingle from the carbonation.

Basically a middle of the road saison. Nothing really outstanding about it, but nothing really wrong either. I would like to see the hops dialed back a bit, I think they are dominating a bit too much and overwhelming the other flavors. It does go down easy, but pretty much an average beer for the style.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy golden with a big white head that dissipates after about a minute.

Aroma: Smells of lemon, citrus, pepper and some faint herbaceous notes. Smells appealing. The nose is very forward but in no way overpowering or funky.

Taste: This is a really tasty saison. It starts out with lemon and citrus and then finishes dry and slightly peppery. Those grassy, herbaceous notes are also in there on both ends.

Mouthfeel: The body is just right. Just about spot-on for a saison.

Overall: A pretty terrific domestic saison. It hits all the notes - great aroma, nice citrus and lemon flavor, appealing dry pepper finish. Would drink again.

Was pleasantly surprised by this low octane offering from my neighborhood brewery. As compared to other Victory offerings this beer was more mellow in taste without giving up on the uniqueness that has become Victory. The copious amounts of lemon zest contribute well to this beer as does the other spices.

Poured a cloudy golden color with a thin ring of white lacing. Nice, though a bit more head would be better, but it looks like a quite nice saison. Scents of sour funk, barnyard-like mostly, with a tang of lemon, undertones of pepper spiciness and hints of floral and herbal hops. A good, funky, lemon-rich, spicy aroma, leaning towards the funky citrus side of the saison spectrum and not the sweet fruity side. Flavor begins with a large amount of of lemon zest, moving into a moderate peppery spiciness, further lemon zest and some moderate hoppy bitterness, mostly floral. A bit high on bitterness for a saison. Moderate levels of dry, grainy malt appear in the middle. Finish is dry with moderate-high hop bitterness, lemon zest and slight white pepper. Aftertaste is grainy and dry with notes of floral hops and white pepper. A good overall flavor profile, perhaps a bit high in hop bitterness for a saison, but with a nice, traditional white pepper and lemon zest character. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium-high carbonation and a drying feel. A good, true to style, classic saison feel, very well done. Overall this is a pretty good saison that has a fantastic aroma, a good, though slightly too hoppy flavor and an excellent mouthfeel. Good, but not the best American saison, still quite nice.

I got into the Saison style last year and brewed a relatively strong batch that friends and neighbors enjoyed more than the beer judges who sampled my first-ever submission. Since then, I’ve been acquiring a taste for the style and have developed a preference for beers that are more luscious than dry. Victory’s offering is of the latter variety: lemony and peppery – not much of the sweetness of some I’ve tried, but still a solid summer Saison

Appearance- straw to light golden color, a bit cloudy, half-inch head that dissolves quickly, while carbonation persists

Aroma- characteristic Saison fragrance, some coriander and citrus, inviting

Taste- somewhat bitter for a Saison, lemony dry, grassy, a bit peppery, refreshing.
Hoppy/lemony bitterness persists with no solvent-like or alcohol burn.

Overall- Unlike my first Saison, which snuck up on you with its 8.7% ABV, this one is “What you see is what you get” – sessionable at its 4.5% ABV, with no surprises

Big, fluffy white head that really lasted left lots of clumpy foam clinging to the glass. The beer is crystal clear and a bright yellow/gold. Nice aroma with notes of grain and spices, slightly sour wheat, a bit grassy with a hint of coriander and parsley. The flavour was a little less interesting but still alright, with mild bitterness and spice, moderate sweetness and grain character, a bit of lemon character, lingering spice and bitterness. Medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, decent texture but maybe a bit heavier than expected.
