First had: on tap at Victory

Hazy golden pour, topped with a foamy white head that receded to a thick collar and left a good amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma was hoppy--as would be expected--piney, lesser notes of toasted grains. Nice taste, similarly hoppy, resinous, piney, crisp, bitter, backed by a solid malt and toasted grain bill. Body was medium, a bit sticky, and about spot-on for the style. Very nice overall.

Served on-tap at Cork City Pub in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a hazy pale orange in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation at the surface of the beer and a fair amount of apricot + peach highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall light beige head that quickly reduces to just a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of overripe citrus/grapefruit hops along with lighter aromas of herbal hops, pine hops, and just a touch of bready malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate biscuit/bready malt flavor with moderate to strong flavors of overripe citrus/grapefruit/tangerine and hints of herbal/floral hops. Light amounts of bitterness that fade quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Overall, there is something not quite right about the flavor of this brew but I just cannot put my finger on exactly what it is - possibly a strange combination of hop aromas/flavors. Otherwise this is a pretty pedestrian offering from Victory whom I expect a little more from.

Draft at The Pour House in Westmont, NJ.

Pours a hazy, pale golden orange color with tangerine edges and a two finger pillowy white head.  Good retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring.  The glass is left coated with streaks of soapy lace.

Dank floral hop aroma with a ton of tropical and citrus fruit character along with earthy, grassy pine needle and resinous oils.  Some alcohol/boozy sweetness evident in the nose as well but it's dominated by the sweeter fruit notes, with strong hints of grapefruit, tangerine and blood orange.

Medium bodied with a slight creamy texture but still light and easy to drink with a complex hop profile that's nicely balanced by a pale malt backbone.  Insanely drinkable even with some alcohol heat/sweetness in finish.  Dank, piny bitterness countered by grapefruit, pineapple, orange peel and mango sweetness.  Nice malt presence underneath but it doesn't interfere with the juicy hop flavors.  Hints of caramel, toffee and biscuit toward the finish.  Complex and well balanced with great hop flavor.  ABV is nicely masked with only slight heat, making this beer very easy to drink.  One of the better IPAs I've had from Victory.

Victory Brewing : K-Bomb

LOOK: Hazed light unripe orange colored brew. White foam cap forms and leaves plenty of lace on the glass. So cloudy, almost looks like a wheat.

SMELL: Bright citrus hops, herb, tobacco, tangerine.

TASTE: Strongly bitter with a grapefruit rind flavor. Crisp biscuity malt character, easily overshadowed by aggressive citrus hops with all due bitterness. There is little hint of alcohol making this one a creeper. Did I say this is bitter? Bo yea!

FEEL: Medium bodied, well carbonated, semi dry hop bite.

OVERALL: Victory has been releasing all kinds of limited edition IPAs and I must say, I really like all of them, including this one. CHEERS

Served on-tap in a short 10oz mini-imperial glass at Beer Run (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Honey-gold with short cap of off-white tightly bubbled head with decent retention and a few legs of lacing.

S: Good aroma but just above-average with pine, resin, and grapefruit aromas. Classic aroma. The maltiness is pretty one-dimensional with some light crystal and mid-range breadiness.

T: The flavor is fine but not much more can be said as it is pretty generic and underpowered overall. The pone, grapefruit, floral, and resiny characteristics are nice but don't provide much anything unique. THe maltiness is slightly sweeter than in the nose but provides good heft.

M: Reasonably dry and drinkable with moderate carbonation.

O: Good but uninspired.

Poured hazy as hell. Orange-yellow beer. Dense white cap ain't even moving. Love it. AND, it's in a pint glass! That means more beer, folks.

Smells of lemongrass, sweet flowers, tangerine, and (dare I say it) a hint of banana? Interesting nose for a IIPA.

Tastes of some new hybrid hop. Lightly cat pissy, but kiwi and tangerine citrus with some firm pine notes that were undefinable in the aroma. Lots of bitterness on the tongue and at the top of the throat. Surprisingly, it's pretty dry. I pick up what smelled like banana in the flavor. It's a creamy tangy fruit note that can no longer be described as banana. A weird flavor profile that works.

A little harsh. Big bitterness excites the pockets of the mouth, all the while, the booze is pawing at me. Body is just bigger than medium and the carb is a little too agitating for my liking. Heady.

I liked the sample more than the full pour.

A: Poured from the growler into a Duvel tulip glass. Clear honey-golden with a nice 1-finger foamy white head. Leaves a little lace.

S: Tropical fruits and citrus over honey-based malt.

T: Caramel malt and tropical fruit. Finishes with lemony dry citrus.

M: Medium in heft with a good creamy feel.

O: A good, but not great, DIPA.
