Liberty Bell Ringer by Victory Brewing is perhaps the finest IPA I have ever tasted. Was at Prime 16 in Orange CT and ordered a number of beers on tap during the evening. The last beer I ordered was the Liberty Bell Ringer IPA. Poured a beautiful orange, yellow, gold with about 2 cm of creamy head. Smell of roasted hops, and a touch of citrus. First sip had notes of smooth grapefruit and citrus. I barely noticed the high alcohol content which was surprising. Mouthfeel was hoppy, and smooth throughout. Overall this IPA truly surprised me. Looking forward to taking a road trip to Victory Brewery to try their other offerings.

Pours a yellow gold with a decent initial head that quickly fades to nice lacing. Smells like a typical IPA with pine and hop notes. Nothing remarkable. What really blows me away is the flavor balance on this. You instantly taste a great mix of grapefruit or some kind of citrus with a hop profile. Goes down incredibly well for close to 9% ABV. Sad to see this was a one and done for Philly beer week.

Paler look for a DIPA. Yellow-orange with lots of haze and a crisp slice of white foam.

Lemony citrus hops with floral aromas in the happening. Light tangerine makes for quite the unique hoppiness. Almost a German-like element to the malts, which are summery pale and not without slight hints of white breadiness.

Bready and with a haughty yeast profile. Hard to completely share a moment with the loud voice of alcohol speaking for itself. Lemony, bready; and with notes of tangerine, citrus pith, flowery hops, and a very mellow banana. White bread all the way, speaking to the malts here. Has rather mild bitterness for the style. Really intriguing, in a good way.

Feels smooth and nearly milky. Rises above my expectations. Carb has perk, but doesn't mess with the plus body.

Great beer. Maybe dissension in the ranks, but its okay if a beer like this has this kind of temperament.

Appearance is a golden straw color with a thin layer of head. Grapefruit and hop notes are definitely present in the nose. The most noticeable thing about the flavor profile is that there is some nice maltiness here. The grapefruit and hops make a comeback on the finish, but the hop profile is not as strong as one would expect from a top flight DIPA.

LOOK: Poured into one of those dang snifter glasses. Pours a bright gold with a white creamy head that laces the glass well. Good clarity and decent retention.

SMELL: Tropical and pine aromas are quite strong. Grapefruit, mango, pineapple and papaya all are in force, quite a juicy smelling Double IPA.

TASTE: Nice pine and hoppy acidity. Grapefruit, lemon, lime, and pretty much citrus all day. Resin, blonde tobacco, pine, sap, green tea. Hop bomb with some different flavors.

FEEL: Medium bodied, crisp and well carbonated. Drinks easily.

OVERALL: Another well above average double IPA from victory. This has a lot of hoppy acidity and citrus flavor, and an aroma that was the highlight of the drinking experience. Worthy.

I managed to get a keg of this gem for home. Such a treat since it was made only for Philly Beer Week. Poured from draft into np my Victory tulip glass.

A: a medium golden color with a two finger fluffy white head. Massive glass lacing sticks.

S: Wow, the trip optical fruit is amazing. Huge smells of mango, pineapple, citrus and other tropical fruits. Slight alcohol and some slight breadiness.

T: Taste follows the nose mostly. Huge tropical fruit abound with mango, pineapple, peach, lemon and some slight floral notes. Malt is barely there with some biscuit sweetness and baked bread. This baby is all hops. Finish turns slightly bitter with slight pine but still stays clean and crisp and dry. Amazing for this abv. Alcohol is superbly hidden.

M: Hoppy, crisp, clean, devoid of sweetness and nice carbonation. Not much alcohol.

O: This is a terrific beer, so unlike the Victory usual dank and spicy favors. This baby is uber west coast like and I love it.

A superb beer that I never expected from the tanks at Victory. This is a winner, we can only hope they decide to brew it again...please. Until that time, I'll enjoy this keg immensely. Great summer DIPA. Cheers Victory.

On tap at Henry Street Taproom in Saratoga, NY, before the Phish concert.

Pours a hazy gold orange color. White, foamy, one inch head, great lacing.

Aromas include grapefruit, orange zest, pine, and some peach, maybe.

The flavors are very similar, with strong grapefruit and pine, with huge flavors of orange as well. Low, but pleasantly lingering bitterness, with no alcohol present whatsoever, which is impressive for the ABV.

Medium bodied, crisp, and drinkable. Awesome beer that went down quickly.

Another winner from Victory. They are truly putting out great stuff.

From 06/30/13 notes. 8oz pour on tap at Pony Bar on the UES in NYC.

a - Pours a hazy bright yellow golden color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrus hops, mangos, tropical fruits, pine hops, fruity malts, grains, and wheat. Very nice with a lot of citrus and hops to it; big fan of the nose.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, grapefruit, pine hops, tropical fruits, juice, lemon zest, floral hops, fruity malts, and grains. Follows the nose closely, a lot of fresh hops and fruits. Very low bitterness, pretty much non-existent.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. No real bite from the hops at all. Quite easy to drink. Doesn't feel like 9% ABV.

o - Overall I thought this was a great DIPA. Tons of citrusm fresh hops, and fruits, and very easy to drink. Really hoping they make this one again as I loved it.

Poured a golden body with good head and lacing on top of a mostly citric hop smell, and for a hoppy beer like this no surprise although not a particular strong hop smell nor are the malts that noticeable. Smooth, easy to drink, I like the hop flavor of citric and a touch of spice and pine and I would say my only criticisms are while the hops are not a tastebud killer it would've been nice for some more malts to balance as I get a touch of bitter dryness on the finish. An easy to drink hop and booze heavy IPA which is not something easy to do and an altogether enjoyable ale.

11oz pour at the Pour House in Exton, PA. Reviewed from notes.

A - golden straw color, great clarity, an initial 2 finger bright white head that slowly fades and leaves nice patches of lace.

S - wow... They must have dry-hopped the hell out of this thing because it smells amazing. Lots of peach, mango, and grapefruit with a subtle, sweet malt presence. A bit of pine.

T - big punch of citrus and tropical fruit that carries all the way into the finish. Lots of bittersweet grapefruit, some peach, mango, pineapple, and in the middle of the mouth a touch of sweet, bready malts. Some dank pine notes come in towards the end. Tastes super fresh and delicious. I have to say, I wasn't expecting this to be this good.

M - creamy, medium body, slightly prickly carbonation. The alcohol is very well hidden. Easy drinking. Mildly bitter and dry finish.

O - Victory killed it with this one. An outstanding DIPA. Bright, clean hops from start to finish. Hopefully the Pour House doesn't kick that keg before I can make it back there! Victory would be wise to bottle this. Hop Devil and Wallop are good beers, but this is a great beer.

A: Pours a golden yellow - on the lighter side. Decent head at pour and good lacing.

S: Piney hop aroma - strong and sharp.

T: Pine and fruit bitterness up front lasts throughout the taste. However somewhere in the middle to back the fruit comes alive - apricot and tropical fruit. Mango. Really different and nice.

M: Good carbonation. Bitter and light yet lots of body.

O: Hope to see this one again.

A - Pale gold, crystal clear body. Bone white head has good retention and lace.

Tropical fruit hop bouquet on the nose and body. Pine hop finish. Caramel sweet malts provide a nice backbone; however, stay well in the background flavors. Medium to full in body, medium carbonation. Smooth consistency, finishes crisp and dry with lasting pine bitterness.

The depth of hop aroma and flavor is impressive with the crystal clear body. These one-off DIPAs that Victory has been putting out have been extremely well done.

I had a pint of this ($5.50) at the Brewery during a visit on 07JUN13.

My tall, stange-type glass held a clear, medium-golden elixir. Carbo was steady, and it started with a healthy, fluffy white head, which slowly ebbed away. Lacing was excellent and left lots of coverage on the glass. Aroma was solid, with lots of grapefruit and other rindy citrus fruit present. Body was medium, and it was quite smooth over the tongue.

Flavor started with just a touch of lightly sweet, crackery malts. After that, it was hop city! Piney, pithy, grapefruit/lemon rindyness followed. All that hoppage coated the palate wonderfully! A fine DIPA, indeed! Zum Wohl!!

On tap @ the brewery. Pours a hazed gold with a sudsy bright-white head. This stays rich looking with accompanying lace. The aroma is floral, dank and piney, with tight fresh citrus character and a twangy malt feel across the back. The taste has a bright citric bite with resins and spice that spread out into the finish. Light tropical, herbal and malt flavors helps temper the aggressiveness of the hops. The feel is medium to fuller bodied with a firm and creamy carbonation in the mouth. Alcohol is there but is kept in check. This was a most tasty and well balanced DIPA with a pretty dangerous drinkability for 9%. Loving these big hoppy beers from Victory lately!

Poured at Opening Tap at Philly Beer Week.

Pours a clear golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma is astounding. Tons and tons of apricots, peaches, fresh summer fruits, slight pine, piles of citrus.

Absolutely floored by the taste. Mirrors the aroma. Blown away by the combination of fruitiness, pine, grapefruit, low bitterness, huge bite. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky.

The most perfect DIPA I have ever had.

A - Pours a bright medium gold color with a one fingered creamy rich white head. Slight carbonation.

S - Dank citrus, mango, apricot, some pineapple, and exhibits some of those qualities of citra hops we've all grown to love or hate...cat pee. (Even though there's no citra in this beer.)

T - Follows the nose and is hop forward all the way through - apricot, mango, a little bit of tropical fruit, and a piney bitter ending.

M - Flat, medium body. I can only blame it on the growler was taken from the bottom of the keg so there wasn't much life left in it.

O - Meh, not as good as Dirt Wolf.
