12 oz bottle sealed with pressure cap.
poured into HF wine Stem.
Appearance: translucent golden / pale straw yellow bodied beer with 2 fingers of white head. Head drops to a thin ring around the glass.
Smell: tropical fruits with dirty, dank, earthy hops. Juicy pine and grapefruit rind. Slightly floral and herbal notes.
Taste: moderate bitterness with a little bit of bready malts to help tame the hoppy bitterness. Quick jab of sweet oranges, pine bitterness, grapefruit rinds, dank hoppyness, and stone fruits / tropical fruits. Hint of bready and biscuity malt profile. Finishes mildly bitter with juicy pine notes, mandrin oranges, and a hint of honey.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Fairly drinkable DIPA.
Overall: This is a really nice DIPA by Victory. Nothing mind blowing, but just a great 6 pack beer that will keep hops heads returning to purchase more.

Re-rating this based off a fresh from the tap beer at Victory. I had previously rated this a 3.75 a long time back when I first had it and that was underrated. This review I tried to temper with the fact that most likely the bottle can't live up to what I'm having here, but my thought is it is closer to this rating than my original.
A: hazy-to-cloudy pale yellow with a great head and lots of lacing.
S: this fresh beer is probably a 5+ for an IPA. Smells like opening a piney hop bag for home brewing (unfortunately I don't know what fresh hops themselves smell like, but I can guess). Downside-all you get is hops, upside is the same. Did not give a 5 b/c in am guessing this is as fresh as you can get, and that affects it. Then again, never had any fresh IPA with this amount of hop nose. Oh-smells like your fresh cut Christmas tree.
T: the crazy pine scent does not come into the taste initially. The taste has a base earthy taste, with some citrus notes. The pine enters early mid taste, soon after the lemon-touched grapefruit taste, which is something that doesn't always work for me, but I do t mind it as much here as there is a little sweetness (honey-like) that lessens the blow.
M: very good carbonation, medium body. The ending is quite dry and a bit resinous.
O: definitely deserves a try and can see why it held a spot near the top of the IPA list at one point. I pick this up from time to time already, but will have to check what I get in bottles against this review.
