12oz bottle to my FW snifter glass

A: Dirt Wolf has a lightly tarnished golden amber color. Mostly clear body with a touch of hop haze. Topped with a thin layer of choppy off-white suds. Not the best showing of head retention but it will do. Some minor etchings of stick and lace noted clinging to the glass after every sip.

S: Big pine and spice on the nose. Touch of spiced grapefruit, pineapple flesh, and dank weed. Very green with a resinous pungency. Not much malt character coming through in the aromas at all. Some clean mineral water. Very bright and hoppy. Really nice.

T: Hop damn! This one has a super resinous and puckering bitterness to it. It’s piney like Pliny with some dank herbal weeds, juicy peach-mango notes, and more spicy grapefruit. Faint touch of toasted caramel malts on the backend but otherwise it’s not all that apparent. The alcohol is quite well balanced with only a mere whisper at the finish. Very impressive and me likey. Resinous and danky but with a fairly clean retreat prepping you for that next gulp.

M. Medium amount of fullness to it and even a notch towards being on the lighter side of things. Even level of spritzy carb. Sticky and resinous with a nice drying pucker and crisp finish. Clean overall with some mild hop residue and sticky sugars lingering about.

D: A very well constructed classicly west coast style DIPA. Reminds me quite a bit like Pliny only just a smidge sharper on the palate. Goes down just as easily however. I was never to big on Hop Wallop but I am definitely on board with the Wolf.
Will be my snoogens for sure.

After reading the reviews this popped right into my wants. Then on a lowly day when beer shopping my phone died, unable to turn to BA for advice. With no particular wants in mind I picked this up, read the description on the side and knew I had to try it. This ended up as a want twice and for good reason. Smells and tastes primarily of citrus, mostly grabbing grapefruit and apple, surprisingly brings a brisk spice aspect once the pine comes forward. Aftertaste is dry and suitable to taste. Mouthfeel is crisp with biting carbonation. So easy and pleasurable to drink, my new personal go-to.

This is easily the best IPA/DIPA I have ever had.

(enjoy by 18 Jan 2015 - poured into a fat Chouffe tulip)

L: clear, grainy yellow-gold hue... beautiful, tightly-woven web of frothy, cottony white foam... curiously, little lace, as the foam chooses to glide down the wall of the glass

S: vintage Victory whole-flower hop character... orange, lemon, green grass... almost jelly-like, candy sweetness... mellow yet invigorating lemony alcohol... perhaps a slightly sourdough/lemon tart after the last 1/2 oz poured in

T: pungent, grassy/green onion hop flavor and zippy bitterness... subtle aftertaste of old-timey lemon hard candy... malt fills in just enough of the background to give it foundation, like a crust

F: soft, short, buzzing waves of foam... bit of a slick-ish finish and residual film sliding down the back end of the tongue... ends up blanket-soft, filling the palate with a burst of hop ghosts

O: lovely intensity of elegant yellow citrus and powdery white butter cookie flavor... the German engineering is still in effect... so utterly enjoyable - not much more they could do to improve its construct

On tap.

Was okay for a double IPA. Didn't pack a lot of flavor to me. Super high ABV.

Had a growler filled at Premier Gourmet this weekend....I love that place.Poured into an impy nonic a clear light to medium golden with a great looking blooming white head that left two multiple rings of lace as it settled into a frothy mass.Pine and grapefruit along with sugary sweetness in the nose, there is drunken fruit element to it.Fresh citric hops greet the taste buds that melds into a grassiness and then into a sweet dough caramel base,a sugary alcohol element is there but doesn't overpower the hops.I like it,top 5....not sure, but it kicks ass.

12oz bottle poured into Mr. Pint.

Appearance: A hazy, mostly translucent yellow with brisk bubbling action and a white head that leaves a little bit of lacing on the side of the glass as it slowly dies down.

Smell: Holy complex nose, Batman! Citrus, hops, pine, grass, grapefruit all just take their turn in blasting out for my enjoyment.

Taste: Very much reflects the nose. Nice, complex - and distinct - flavors centered around citrus, pine, grass, and hops hit pretty good.

Mouthfeel: Pretty crisp. A little bit of the pine lingers as an aftertaste.

Overall: Well, then. $9.45 for a 4 pack well spent!

Eww, like licking a pine cone mixed in a pool of bitters. I won't be drinking many IPAs, I have taste buds unfortunately.

poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass

A-light straw colored, cottony head, clear
S - citrus, no alcohol
T-YUMMY! Bitter, but does not dominate the malt - a good balance. Can taste the citrusy hop flavor as it fills your mouth and wafts up your nose.
F - silky smooth, medium carbonation
O - 4.1 - a great double IPA

A: A light colored DIPA that is a deep golden beer with good clarity. The white head is quick to fade into a thin cap of soapy bubbles.

S: A strong citrus hops aroma that mostly has notes of grapefruit, pine, some pineapple and a fair amount of an herbal character. There is a light malt a sweetness and a low alcohol sweetness.

T: An aggressive hops bitterness and a very strong citrus hop flavors. The hop flavors are a lemon/lime, pine, some mango and little citrus zest. There is just enough malt for support and nothing more making for a very bitter balance. The finish is off-dry with a lingering, citrus hops flavor and bitterness. There is some herbal qualities to the hop flavor that is more apparent towards the finish.

M: A medium bodied beer with a light creaminess and a strong level of carbonation.

O: A very well crafted Double IPA that brings a ton of American citrus hops to the party. The entire focus and balance of the beer is out towards showcasing the hops.
