i recall this beer being a shade darker than golden with a decent head that got my glass messy in a most lacy way. mild, fat bubbled carbonation drunkenly diffused to the top as the glass got less full.
the nose was full of pine sap and clumpy chunks of cut wet grass with juicy citrus grapefruit notes over a clean malt sweetness.
as preposterous as it may seem the taste was very similar to what the nose alluded to. a resinous mouthfeel was noted as a tremendous succulence poured across the palate. the malt base utilized is ideal to this reviewer. the golden hue held true to anticipation and a crisp and clean malt character allowed the wonderful hop properties to flourish. sappy, resinous pine. citrus juice and rind. a bit lemony with a dash of grass. lip smacking and drink provoking.
the mouthfeel was a solid medium. not quite syrupy. completely fulfilling in the context of what it was carrying on its back.
overall this is one to be missed when gone and the dirtwolf is now extinct in these parts. victory victorious again. one could only wish for some hop wallop to fall back on...

Had a growler filled at Premier Gourmet this weekend....I love that place.Poured into an impy nonic a clear light to medium golden with a great looking blooming white head that left two multiple rings of lace as it settled into a frothy mass.Pine and grapefruit along with sugary sweetness in the nose, there is drunken fruit element to it.Fresh citric hops greet the taste buds that melds into a grassiness and then into a sweet dough caramel base,a sugary alcohol element is there but doesn't overpower the hops.I like it,top 5....not sure, but it kicks ass.

12oz bottle poured into Mr. Pint.
Appearance: A hazy, mostly translucent yellow with brisk bubbling action and a white head that leaves a little bit of lacing on the side of the glass as it slowly dies down.
Smell: Holy complex nose, Batman! Citrus, hops, pine, grass, grapefruit all just take their turn in blasting out for my enjoyment.
Taste: Very much reflects the nose. Nice, complex - and distinct - flavors centered around citrus, pine, grass, and hops hit pretty good.
Mouthfeel: Pretty crisp. A little bit of the pine lingers as an aftertaste.
Overall: Well, then. $9.45 for a 4 pack well spent!

A: A light colored DIPA that is a deep golden beer with good clarity. The white head is quick to fade into a thin cap of soapy bubbles.
S: A strong citrus hops aroma that mostly has notes of grapefruit, pine, some pineapple and a fair amount of an herbal character. There is a light malt a sweetness and a low alcohol sweetness.
T: An aggressive hops bitterness and a very strong citrus hop flavors. The hop flavors are a lemon/lime, pine, some mango and little citrus zest. There is just enough malt for support and nothing more making for a very bitter balance. The finish is off-dry with a lingering, citrus hops flavor and bitterness. There is some herbal qualities to the hop flavor that is more apparent towards the finish.
M: A medium bodied beer with a light creaminess and a strong level of carbonation.
O: A very well crafted Double IPA that brings a ton of American citrus hops to the party. The entire focus and balance of the beer is out towards showcasing the hops.
