Appearance - Pours hazy and golden in color with a white, 2 finger head. Good retention, resulting in a thin layer of surface suds. A fine, consistent web of lacing sticks nicely around the glass.
Smell - A tropical bouquet: Grapefruit and orange with light floral notes, pineapple and peach fruitiness. Subtle hints of bread or caramel.
Taste - Follows the nose, as red grapefruit and light pineapple twang attack. Juicy fruit character, with hints of orange and peach. Touches on some sweet bready maltiness, but hidden far beneath the massive weight of the hop profile. Finish is citrus pith with floral essence and a hint of pine.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full in body with a light syrupy feel and a moderate, slightly tingly carbonation. Decently smooth. Goes down well for such a big beer.
Overall - If you're looking for a IIPA with a massive tropical hop punch, do not pass this up. Not much of a noticeable malt backbone, but does well without it. One I will surely explore again in the future.

Re-rating this based off a fresh from the tap beer at Victory. I had previously rated this a 3.75 a long time back when I first had it and that was underrated. This review I tried to temper with the fact that most likely the bottle can't live up to what I'm having here, but my thought is it is closer to this rating than my original.
A: hazy-to-cloudy pale yellow with a great head and lots of lacing.
S: this fresh beer is probably a 5+ for an IPA. Smells like opening a piney hop bag for home brewing (unfortunately I don't know what fresh hops themselves smell like, but I can guess). Downside-all you get is hops, upside is the same. Did not give a 5 b/c in am guessing this is as fresh as you can get, and that affects it. Then again, never had any fresh IPA with this amount of hop nose. Oh-smells like your fresh cut Christmas tree.
T: the crazy pine scent does not come into the taste initially. The taste has a base earthy taste, with some citrus notes. The pine enters early mid taste, soon after the lemon-touched grapefruit taste, which is something that doesn't always work for me, but I do t mind it as much here as there is a little sweetness (honey-like) that lessens the blow.
M: very good carbonation, medium body. The ending is quite dry and a bit resinous.
O: definitely deserves a try and can see why it held a spot near the top of the IPA list at one point. I pick this up from time to time already, but will have to check what I get in bottles against this review.
