Growler poured into pint glass
A: Rich golden hue – plenty of carbonation that rushes to populate a clean bright white head that has moderate retention. Looks like its light and fresh – much more translucence than the Hop Ranch, could be attributable to the serving style difference. Lacing is weak.
S: DANK, hoppy, citrus, earthy and a bit of pine or woody related notes that give a unique dryness. The citrus is dominant and very floral, lots of lemon and other fresh aromas – smells a lot like spring or a warm rainy morning. The wood profile is a mixture of what smells like pine and spruce – maybe cedar
T: Floral and citrus notes upfront with a lot of tree/wood character that make it somewhat dry but crisp as well. Fruit flavor is mellow and contributes to a mild sweetness – grapefruit, pineapple, MANGO, and lemon. Spices roll off the palate imparting their distinct presence (ginger among others) while enhancing the flowery hops. A multilayered flavor journey that ends with a light and pleasant sweetness produced from the blended fruit and a tenuous sugariness.
M: Medium bodied, with medium carbonation – aftertaste is dry but still with complex flavor, slightly sweet maybe from orange peel.
O: Impressive, my favorite DIPA to date. Surprisingly easy to drink for the style and the ABV – very well balanced and quite refreshing. A lot of different flavors contribute to a deliciously cohesive taste that I plan to drink whenever I see it available.
I am continually impressed with Victory’s offerings and glad to support a local brew that is this delectable.

Re-rating this based off a fresh from the tap beer at Victory. I had previously rated this a 3.75 a long time back when I first had it and that was underrated. This review I tried to temper with the fact that most likely the bottle can't live up to what I'm having here, but my thought is it is closer to this rating than my original.
A: hazy-to-cloudy pale yellow with a great head and lots of lacing.
S: this fresh beer is probably a 5+ for an IPA. Smells like opening a piney hop bag for home brewing (unfortunately I don't know what fresh hops themselves smell like, but I can guess). Downside-all you get is hops, upside is the same. Did not give a 5 b/c in am guessing this is as fresh as you can get, and that affects it. Then again, never had any fresh IPA with this amount of hop nose. Oh-smells like your fresh cut Christmas tree.
T: the crazy pine scent does not come into the taste initially. The taste has a base earthy taste, with some citrus notes. The pine enters early mid taste, soon after the lemon-touched grapefruit taste, which is something that doesn't always work for me, but I do t mind it as much here as there is a little sweetness (honey-like) that lessens the blow.
M: very good carbonation, medium body. The ending is quite dry and a bit resinous.
O: definitely deserves a try and can see why it held a spot near the top of the IPA list at one point. I pick this up from time to time already, but will have to check what I get in bottles against this review.
