Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.
A: Slightly hazy, medium golden color with less than one finger of white foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass.
S: Bright orange citrus is big, although not big enough to conceal some grainy base malt. Pine is also evident, with an ambiguous spirituous flair that stops well short of appearing boozy. Cleanliness reigns, with unaffected malt and hops unfettered by yeast metabolites.
T: Begins very off-dry, with strong herbaceous--even minty--spice, mixed citrus peel, and pine. Acidity is moderate into the middle where dryness is elevated and hops flavors become more integrated. Distinct malt is elusive, although moderate bitterness during the finish retains the seamless hops flavor from the second act to an appealing extent. In the final tally the hops qualities seem rather savory, suggestive of ramps. No alcohol is detected.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, slightly acidic and resinous on the palate, with moderate carbonation.
D/O: This respectable DIPA successfully captures hops qualities without really stumbling. The range of qualities runs from orange citrus, to pine, to savory onion; while the sappy tropical fruit of some other modern recipes is lacking, it is not particularly missed. No other qualities really threaten to obscure or distract from the hops.

Have heard great things about this beer. Decided to finally try it. Here goes:
A: Splendid. Pours a clear orange with a massive head. Tons of lacing - and I mean tons of it. The protein content is undoubtedly great. Can't wait to try it.
S: Fantastic. Lots of Pacific NW hops. Can smell grapefruit, lemon, orange, and great helpings of mango and tropical fruit. Emphasis on the mango and tropical fruit - reminds me of Lagunitas Sucks and Stone Go To.
T: Very good but somewhat bummed. Great hop flavor, but the malt is somewhat muted. I typically like a good balance of malt and hops in my DIPA's. Oh well, it's still superb. The taste of the hops follows the nose.
M: OK, somewhat light, especially for a DIPA.
O: A very good DIPA. Will be having again and again. Great job, Victory!

Re-rating this based off a fresh from the tap beer at Victory. I had previously rated this a 3.75 a long time back when I first had it and that was underrated. This review I tried to temper with the fact that most likely the bottle can't live up to what I'm having here, but my thought is it is closer to this rating than my original.
A: hazy-to-cloudy pale yellow with a great head and lots of lacing.
S: this fresh beer is probably a 5+ for an IPA. Smells like opening a piney hop bag for home brewing (unfortunately I don't know what fresh hops themselves smell like, but I can guess). Downside-all you get is hops, upside is the same. Did not give a 5 b/c in am guessing this is as fresh as you can get, and that affects it. Then again, never had any fresh IPA with this amount of hop nose. Oh-smells like your fresh cut Christmas tree.
T: the crazy pine scent does not come into the taste initially. The taste has a base earthy taste, with some citrus notes. The pine enters early mid taste, soon after the lemon-touched grapefruit taste, which is something that doesn't always work for me, but I do t mind it as much here as there is a little sweetness (honey-like) that lessens the blow.
M: very good carbonation, medium body. The ending is quite dry and a bit resinous.
O: definitely deserves a try and can see why it held a spot near the top of the IPA list at one point. I pick this up from time to time already, but will have to check what I get in bottles against this review.
