Draft at the Blue Monkey Tavern in Merchantville, NJ.
Pours a slightly cloudy, burnt orange color with golden yellow hues and a one finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Nice retention with streaks of soapy lace left behind.
Dank, floral hop aroma with resinous oils, pine needle and grass along with a touch of citrus fruit, biscuit, crackery malt and booze. After it warms, the citrus/tropical notes stand out a bit more with grapefruit and orange peel but the nose is still dominated by earthy hops and a strong fusel alcohol/ethanol presence.
Medium body and slightly oily with a blast of dry, hoppy bitterness that lingers over the pale malt, sweet fruit and boozy heat into a dry finish. Again, the flavor is dominated by bitter, earthier hops with hints of grass, dank buds, resinous oils, pine sap and spruce tip. Subtle tropical/citrus sweetness but this opens as it warms. Lots of grapefruit with some pineapple and blood orange. Very boozy with strong heat and alcohol sweetness in the finish taking away from the hop flavors. Pale malt backbone with biscuit and cracker flavor that doesn't interfere with the hop bitterness. Decent but too boozy for my preference and the strong alcohol flavor takes away from the interesting hop character. Feels more like 10+% beer and most of the interesting flavor falls off mid-palate.

Pours a goldish-orange with a big white foam head that dissipates quickly. A small amount of lacing around the edges.
Lots of citrus hops in the aroma. Bursting with grapefruit, lemon, and orange. A little bit of sweetness going along with the cirrus. Nose finishes up with a burst of pine that is very strong.
The taste follows the nose. Lots of hops right up front, followed by the same bursting grapefruit and a hint of the lemon, with a touch of mango and possibly peach. A little bit of bitterness in the finish. Piney resin comes with the aftertaste. For such a hoppy beer, this is shockingly easy to drink.
Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. The pine causes a bit of a resinous quality, making it a bit sticky going down.
Overall, this is a fantastic DIPA, once of my favorites so far. Despite the hoppiness, it is incredibly easy to drink, which could make it dangerous.

Finally got some of this after reading a lot of good things about it on this site. It's always great when something lives up to the hype. This is the best DIPA I've had.
A: Pours golden with a hint of orange, little head that goes away quickly
S: Citrusy. Agree with others that the smell is the weakest part of this beer, but so what, because --
T: If you like your big hoppy IPAs on the fruity side as opposed to the piney side, then I don't know how you could improve on this beer. Bells Two Hearted is no longer my favorite IPA.
M: Again, don't know how to improve on this. Huge hop blast but just the right amount of bitter with no soapy ending.
O: As above. If Heady Topper or Pliny the Either are better than this then bring em on.
