Dirtwolf is an explosion of hops that proves drinkable for the casual beer snob but hoppy enough for beer aficionados. Victory shows that persistence brings quality results and Dirtwolf is just that. Beer pours a nice golden color with an excellent hop aroma. The taste was very good and satisfying, I would purchase it again. I am a bit jaded as I regularly have Pliny and Heady but the PA boyz can brew a good DIPA period!

Bottom Line: Great brew!

Bottle poured into a glass

Thick, frothy taupe/ off white cap with plenty of lacings on the glass. Hazy, copper orange wit race carbonation

Aroma of pine and orange citrus

Smooth, hop forward , well balanced, pine hops, clean, smooth finish, slight bitter aftertaste on the back of the tongue

Good carbonation, almost creamy , gentle carbonation

Very good double IPa worthy of repeating.

12 oz bottle poured into a Stella chalice.

Pours a hazy grapefruit color with a full finger of fluffy white foam. Aroma is full of pungent earthy hops, with a nice bit of citrus as well.

First sip is a big rush a ruddy hop flavor - I do feel like this is a mix of earthy German hops and citrusy American hops. There is enough malt sweetness to give this beer a nice body, but any malt flavor is far outshadowed by the assertive hop profile. As I drink, the beer leaves beautiful lacing on the glass.

This beer looks great, smells great, and tastes great! Another winner from Victory!

A- Clean golden with bright highlights and a 2 finger white head that doesn't stick around too long. Terrific lacing.

S- Pineapple, mango, apricot. Sweet pale malt base of honey and caramel. Pungent aroma.

T- Impressive hop profile gives a jolt to the tastebuds from the moment it hits the tongue. A sweet, biscuity malt base kicks in at just the right moment to balance things out. A touch of booze adds some depth.

M- Mid body, refreshing, crisp drinkability.

O- A true "wow" beer. Quite simply one of my top 5 IPAs.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy medium orange. Lots of bubbles. Short but thick creamy head that retains nicely. Clumpy lacing.

S: Lemon, pineapple, peach. Much more citrusy than piney.

T: Smooth up front, then a big piney hop kick, followed by a drying bitterness. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Lots of hop flavor on the back end.

M: Medium mouthfeel. More carbonation than expected. Slight stickiness late.

O: A very nice DIPA. Interesting - but not a negative - that the piney taste didn't follow the citrus aroma. The very hop-centric finish is an explosive contrast to the easy beginning, and makes this a memorable brew.

Appearance - Pours hazy and golden in color with a white, 2 finger head. Good retention, resulting in a thin layer of surface suds. A fine, consistent web of lacing sticks nicely around the glass.

Smell - A tropical bouquet: Grapefruit and orange with light floral notes, pineapple and peach fruitiness. Subtle hints of bread or caramel.

Taste - Follows the nose, as red grapefruit and light pineapple twang attack. Juicy fruit character, with hints of orange and peach. Touches on some sweet bready maltiness, but hidden far beneath the massive weight of the hop profile. Finish is citrus pith with floral essence and a hint of pine.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full in body with a light syrupy feel and a moderate, slightly tingly carbonation. Decently smooth. Goes down well for such a big beer.

Overall - If you're looking for a IIPA with a massive tropical hop punch, do not pass this up. Not much of a noticeable malt backbone, but does well without it. One I will surely explore again in the future.
