Dirtwolf is a little murky but still pretty pineapple juice-colored gold-orange, and very bright regardless of the murky translucency. Dense but light bubbling activity rises from the bottom of the glass. The head that develops is tinted yellow and eases down to form a strong 3/4 of a finger, where it sits extremely dense and foamy. A thick, creamy ring is at the top of the glass where the head settles and is followed by patches.
Beautiful hop aromas rush out of the glass as it's being poured, and it's a complex bouquet that comes together very, very nicely. It's got lots of dank, raw power to it with pine and lots of juicy citrus just to work off the dankness. Some pineapple juice notes roll underneath. The cheesecloth note that comes with some danker heavily hopped beer is present.
Juicier on the tongue, there's also a lot of pine resin and wood. Some malts hold the balance together, but of course the focus is all hops. It ends up on the dry side and the lingering finish is more of wood and almost herbal leaf than anything.
The crisp bite remains through the sip in the not-quite-full, deep medium body while carbonation is moderate and puts up a nice smoothness that's pretty creamy and rolls well. It starts of close to semi-dry and ends up in a dry finish.

The beers pours a slightly hazy yellow orange, with sticky lacing. It immediately hits you with a burst of juicy citrus, almost like walking by a bowl of fruit salad. There is a lot going on.
The taste coats the top of your mouth. It's right on the cusp of too much bitterness for my liking, but I like the challenge. It brings you to that edge, but doesn't push you over. Good amount of pine sap. It has a dry finish that lasts for awhile.
Mouthfeel is good, with just the right amount of carbonation. Doesn't have the smoothness of the sweeter Belgians that I love, but it's not bad. It's smooth and allows you to taste every nuance.
Overall, it's a great DIPA that's very drinkable for an 8.7% ABV beer. Remarkably light.
