Wanted to start trying some double IPAs, this is the first one i picked up, poured 12oz into pint glass
Look: hazy golden with nice tan head and lacing down the glass
Smell: this brew smells awesome, fruity, somewhat sweet, herbal
Taste: exactly what i was hoping for, tastes like a great IPA with a good hop kick
hops are in your face but the sweet fruit gives it a good balance,
Mouthfeel: little carbonation nice warmth and crispness towards the end
Overall: very good brew, cant wait to try some more like it

Great dry, bright, citrusy DIPA. Readily available in the NE and outstanding for the price. Easily compares to the hard to obtain legends in this category and has become a go-to. A must try for enthusiasts of this style.

This IPA hits the glass in a frothy swirl of hazy and bright golden colors with a decent sized, 2 finger head. The retention on the head is pretty good and it has the lacing to match. Right when you open this beer, the hops make an aggressive bee line to the nose and display a big and bold scent profile. The overall impression of the hops on the nose is leaning slightly towards the piney, but with a good dose of floral aromas and a touch of citrus. Overall, the scent is pretty complex.

When you take the first sip, the juicy and mildly bitter hops from the scent rush across you palate. The bitterness from the hops is strong, but not overpoweringly so, with a touch of malt sweetness coming in to balance it out after the initial taste. In the middle of the drink there is a blend of hops bitterness and malty sweet notes, with a distinct impression of honey towards the back end. There is a lingering flavor of slightly increased hops bitterness before the taste fades off of the tongue. This beer is silky smooth going across the tongue while still maintaining the proper mid to high level of carbonation for the style. Alcohol content is almost 9%, but you could never tell it and it is so smooth and delicious that this could be a dangerous 9%.

Overall, I'm not an IPA guy or a hop head, but this beer balances somewhat aggressive hops and malt sweetness to become a truly delicious IPA. I really like this one and wish I lived within distribution range still.

Great double IPA, which has been my preference as of late. I had one last night that tasted great but had a lot of yeast in the bottle even after I poured it into glass. Had not had that happen with dirtwolf in the past. Looked a bit unappealing but did not affect taste. Great beer

12 oz. bottle poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

A: Honey orange color with a slight haze. Full white head and nice lacing.

S: I got earthy and piney with hints of floral and citrus.

T: For me the taste followed the nose. As the beer warmed a bit I started noticing more of a grapefruit citrus flavor. Not as overwhelming as other DIPA's I've tried. I didn't pick up any malts in this one.

M: Clean and crisp with good carbonation.

O: Easily one of my favorite DIPA's. Earthy, fruity and easy to drink. Almost didn't notice the high abv.
