Fresh , tapped - growler filled. Nice copper color. Big brew, but you can't tell right away. Huge hop presence all the way through the last sip and smooth, Enough sweetness reminiscent of honey maybe? just to balance this great beer. A wonderful beer to share with others (as is most beer) but this one is impressive to everyone.

5/19/14 - this is the first edit I have ever done to a review, but after drinking this beer for a couple of weeks, I am absolutely in love with it and it is one of my favorite all time beers. Smooth, flavorful, no booziness whatsoever, with a ton of tropical hop character - damn near perfect!

Poured from a 12 FL. OZ. bottle into a pint glass. Enjoy By Sep 01 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright orange with a thick white pillowy head. Lots of carbonation and sediment throughout.

Smell: Dank tropical fruits. Very light and citrusy. Bready malts. Strong Citra and Simcoe aromas.

Taste: Juicy and dank. Sour Simcoe flavor. I've never used "cat piss" in a review, but the taste/aroma combo in DirtWolf is pure cat piss. There's a first time for everything, I guess.

Mouthfeel: Tart and mouth-puckering. Appropriately full-bodied. Not a strong aftertaste.

Overall: Not my favorite IPA. I had high hopes with the tropical fruit aroma, but the tart/sour Simcoe flavor let me down. What I liked about Lagunitas Sucks, I can't seem to enjoy in DirtWolf.

12oz (enjoy by 9/22/2014) into a tulip. Pours a slightly hazy golden straw color w/ a big sudsy white head that leaves behind some patchy rings of lace.

Aroma is nice clean grapefruit and pineapple. Lots of bright citrus.

Taste follows nose. Big resinous citrusy hops laid over a substantial canvas of bready pale malt. The alpha acids are strong with this one, you can really feel them. Balanced by a pretty powerful underlying sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slick. A nice bitter finish lingers on the palate.

Overall this is a solid, well-made West Coast style imperial IPA, but maybe it doesn't quite live up to all the accolades it has received. I'm not really sure what all the fuss is about. Reminds me a bit of Lagunitas Sucks. Although, to be fair, I love Lagunitas Sucks.

Pours a pale amber body with a frothy white inch of head. Staircase lacing cascaded across the sides. Dirt wolf is an appropriate name because his has huge rustic aroma. Dirt, vegetable matter, twigs, pine needles, moss and tree sap. Grapefruit and spice come through once it warms. Taste is straight citrus rinds, lemons and peppery spice. Loads of citrus in a prickly medium body. Crisp and clean flavors and a complimentary dose of bitterness along with spiced booze.
