Poured into a chalice.

All about the hops, not the malt. A rather balanced DIPA but the hops shine without making this beer a bitter hop bomb. 4.5

A – Pours a clear golden orange with an off-white one-finger head that dissipates fairly quickly to a thin, thin layer. – 4.0

S – Floral perfume with hints of grapefruit, pine, and even some orange. 4.5

T – Some malty sweetness, but it’s all about the hops from beginning to end. But not a hop bomb. There is a little balance. 4.5

MF – Medium-bodied, dry finish with a hint of sweetness. Lasting on the palate, creamy start and well carbonated with some bite in the finish. 4.0

Growler poured into pint glass

A: Rich golden hue – plenty of carbonation that rushes to populate a clean bright white head that has moderate retention. Looks like its light and fresh – much more translucence than the Hop Ranch, could be attributable to the serving style difference. Lacing is weak.

S: DANK, hoppy, citrus, earthy and a bit of pine or woody related notes that give a unique dryness. The citrus is dominant and very floral, lots of lemon and other fresh aromas – smells a lot like spring or a warm rainy morning. The wood profile is a mixture of what smells like pine and spruce – maybe cedar

T: Floral and citrus notes upfront with a lot of tree/wood character that make it somewhat dry but crisp as well. Fruit flavor is mellow and contributes to a mild sweetness – grapefruit, pineapple, MANGO, and lemon. Spices roll off the palate imparting their distinct presence (ginger among others) while enhancing the flowery hops. A multilayered flavor journey that ends with a light and pleasant sweetness produced from the blended fruit and a tenuous sugariness.

M: Medium bodied, with medium carbonation – aftertaste is dry but still with complex flavor, slightly sweet maybe from orange peel.

O: Impressive, my favorite DIPA to date. Surprisingly easy to drink for the style and the ABV – very well balanced and quite refreshing. A lot of different flavors contribute to a deliciously cohesive taste that I plan to drink whenever I see it available.

I am continually impressed with Victory’s offerings and glad to support a local brew that is this delectable.

Appearance: Gold, hazy, good head.

Smell: Pineapple, bit of earth, pine.

Taste: Fruity, balanced flavor. Citrus pith bitterness and earth notes from the hops.

Overall: A very solid DIPA, I prefer them a little sweeter than this. Interesting mix of earthiness along with the standard citrus hop flavors.

On tap at ABV in NYC. Pours a nice clear gold- hue with a finger that settles to a really nice espresso like head. the color is brighter and more translucent than most other DIPAs I've had. Aroma is subtle - not a huge nose on this one at all. Taste is fantastic- really emphasizes the hops without a boozy contribution which can sometimes interfere with the taste in DIPAS, in my opinion. There's a nice, clean hop bitterness that lingers on the back. Mouthfeel is also great- light and not sticky or chewy at all like a lot of DIPAS I've had. More like a low abv ipa mouthfeel, which is amazing for an 8% double. Overall, One of the best DIPAS I've had in awhile, glad to see Victory come out with something great as I had kind of lost interest in them recently.
