Our thanks to the bartender at Iron Hill in West Chester for giving us perfect directions to the Victory Brewery. It may have been a struggle finding it if he was not so precise (even down to describing the big rock on the side of the road where we make a turn).

Upon arriving in their parking lot, you realize it's nestled in the corner of an industrial area. It does not seem like the place for a restaurant. As we enter the establishment, we're greated by a long bar with several patrons sitting enjoying a pint, or sampling several beers. The restaurant is around the corner on the far end of the bar, with a receptionist waiting to seat you.

We started out with their beer sampler. There must have been 10 beers in all. We tried everything on tap including Storm King, HopDevil, and Golden Monkey, Uncle Teddy's Bitter). We were hoping for a seasonal double IPA or something that resembled Hop Wallop, but that didn't happen. Oh well. The bartender was knowledable and enthusiastic about their beers, and even mixed a few beers as additional samplers. I think one mixture he gave us was an Uncle Teddy's Bitter with the Golden Monkey Tripel. It was vey good.

They had a collection of some good cigars for sale (Ashton, CAO, etc.), which made the stop all the more enjoyable. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have more time to spend here, as we were on our way to the Sly Fox Brewery in Phoenixville for dinner.

I really enjoy having Victory so close to me. The staff is very nice and knows their stuff. The beer selection is great and the food selection and preparation is very well done.

PLACE/PHYSICAL ASSETS: Visited Victory while in town for Thanksgiving. I was immediately surprised by how HUGE this place is - WOW, it's giant. Very long bar (that was incredibly packed to the gills), huge dining hall, and numerous adjacent rooms with food and beer service.

BEER: I always judge breweries on beer offerings available on-site not available elsewhere/to the general public, and Victory did not disappoint. Their D'Town Drafts selection was pretty great, and had something for just about any palate preference. The highlight of the evening was the Earth and Flame bourbon barrel aged scotch ale. Just a really well-balanced beer despite a lofty ABV. Highly recommend this in bottles (as they just released them). They also have a beautiful growler - one of the nicer I've seen.

FOOD: The food was pretty good for a brewery. Definitely perfect for soaking up beer. Had the hummus and the pulled pork sandwich (which was tremendous, actually).

Overall, Victory is definitely worth a stop, and locals certainly were there in great number.
