I took the indirect route from Northern Virginia to Villanova for the NCAA FCS semifinal in early December so that my dad and I could visit Victory. The place was a bit hard to find, but well worth it (and the extra hour it added to my drive.) The selection was outstanding, with a strong showing on cask. I tend to like heavier or more extreme ales, and everything I tried was great. I steered my dad, a Coors Light drinker, toward the Pils and Lagers--he liked it, he liked it. We got there a bit early, so it was a bit slow, but as evening set in the crowd grew and the place became livelier.

We both had pretty good dinners--seemed like a lot of food for the money--but the beers were the highlight. On my way out I picked up bombers of V12 and Wild Devil. Fortunately I have easy access to their packaged products in Virginia, but I definitely must return for more of their cask offerings.

I really enjoy having Victory so close to me. The staff is very nice and knows their stuff. The beer selection is great and the food selection and preparation is very well done.

PLACE/PHYSICAL ASSETS: Visited Victory while in town for Thanksgiving. I was immediately surprised by how HUGE this place is - WOW, it's giant. Very long bar (that was incredibly packed to the gills), huge dining hall, and numerous adjacent rooms with food and beer service.

BEER: I always judge breweries on beer offerings available on-site not available elsewhere/to the general public, and Victory did not disappoint. Their D'Town Drafts selection was pretty great, and had something for just about any palate preference. The highlight of the evening was the Earth and Flame bourbon barrel aged scotch ale. Just a really well-balanced beer despite a lofty ABV. Highly recommend this in bottles (as they just released them). They also have a beautiful growler - one of the nicer I've seen.

FOOD: The food was pretty good for a brewery. Definitely perfect for soaking up beer. Had the hummus and the pulled pork sandwich (which was tremendous, actually).

Overall, Victory is definitely worth a stop, and locals certainly were there in great number.
