Not much in the way of limited release stuff, was kind of expecting a little more. The food was standard bar fare, again I was expecting a little more. The beers they do have a very good, not great but very good. Just fell a little short of expectations. (254 characters)

This microbrewery is in my town....I guess my review isn't completely unbiased. We moved to Downingtown in 1997. Victory Brewing wasn't quite as famous then as it is now. In fact, it took us a while to "discover" it. They didn't even have a brew pub when I first found out about it. Just two beer lovers who made a good beer (Prima Pils), won awards, and....the rest is history.

Over the last few years, we've been going to the brew pub. It's nice to have a place with a lot of local flavor which doesn't close until late. Most places in Downingtown are quiet after 10:00 pm but not Victory's brew pub. Always has a lot of people. Families. Couples. Young professionals. College kids. A good mix.

The service is decent and the food is excellent. We are vegetarian and we always find something here that pleases the whole family including the kids. The best part of course is the selection of Victory's beers. The beers are fresh and taste a little better than what's sold in bottles at the store. Plus the brewery usually has something on tap that they're not selling in bottles. You can also try their sampler -- I've loved it in the past, although I know my tastes better now and stick to mostly the tried and tested or --- if the description is really attractive --- might try something new once in a rare while.

A *must* visit on your beer tour...and try the Prima Pils here -- it's fresh and compare it to how you remember it from a bottle. (1,448 characters)

I'm fortunate enough to live nearby to the brewpub (and new brewery location as well!) and have seen it undergo several transformations over the years. However, regardless the look, the quality is a constant. Although the Downingtown location is a bit tricky to find and the parking can be a nightmare (it shares the location with several companies), it's well worth visiting!

Always a great taplist with brewpub only treats, and the growler filling system is pressurized and second to none! From the food perspective, you can never go wrong with the following:
Taco Mondays, trice fries, the wings, fish and chips, the jerk grinder, or the Heartland pizza (assumes they'll stay on the menu, always take a peek though!)

What more can I say? You should probably visit here when you're in the area... (800 characters)

What an awesome place. Bustling (for a Sunday afternoon) with families and non families alike. Plenty of seating but still had a short wait for a table (not complaining, just pointing out the popularity). Seated by a friendly server and immediately informed of what was rolling off the tap line. Brought my son with me so I just had a sample of something that I'd get a growler fill of. Food was excellent, everything was enjoyable. If you are passing through or in the area, please take the time to drop in. If you are doing a brewery tour of eastern PA, this place has got to be on your list. (595 characters)

Made a stop here on a Friday afternoon/evening after hitting Troegs and Stoudts.

A nice bar and a good selection of Victory beers, but I got the feel more of a chain restaurant that happens to carry exclusively Victory beers than a brewery with a bar/restaurant attached. It felt a lot like the satellite Dogfish brewpubs. The bar service was good, but nothing great. A lot like any bar on a Friday evening. Beers are good and you'll get more Victory than you'll normally find in most places obviously. Nothing in the place led you to believe you were at the brewery and the gift shop was pretty small. Enjoyed it, but wouldn't go out of the way to get back. (661 characters)

I had an incredible afternoon and evening at Victory. Very busy, but the staff is very attentive and helpful. The tap selection is incredibly diverse with firstrate beer, and offers something for everyone's taste.
I enjoyed the food I was served (Fish and Chips), and ogled what others at the bar ordered. It all looked and smelled delicious.
A large, spacious old building, well converted to new use for the brewery and pub. A very pleasant atmosphere. A small store space, but well stocked.
I can't wait to go back again soon. Victory does it right. (551 characters)

Pros-

Since moving to the area, this has been a go-to place for me and my family. The atmosphere is perfect, especially for those with young ones looking to have a night out without the worry of bothering the table next/across from you. The food is great but, the beer is better.

Cons-

Attempting to go on a Saturday evening can result in quite the crowded and long wait for a table. The bar will certainly be crowded and can be difficult to order a beer for your wait. The parking lot also reaches its maximum capacity fairly quickly. Although these are inconveniences, I do like that the business is doing well. (617 characters)

stopping by on a Saturday afternoon might not be a best idea to do. found seats at the beer. waiting a while to get served

Atmosphere- was good but being that busy they need more staff. a few wet floors from spill beer.
quality was also good

service could of been better. They need one bartender to pour drinks for the dinning area so they would not ignore the people sitting at the bar.

Selection was great. 20 or more beers on Tap. not sure if all were available

Food was your Average bar pub food Had better food else where

Value was reasonable.

I would like to try to get back here , but not on a Saturday Afternoon. (628 characters)

One of my favorite breweries around. Great food and an even better selection of brews on tap. For a brewery, the quality of the food is amazing, which is why it's such a good draw for me. Some of their scratch beers are amazing as well. Try the Ranch R Double IPA if it's in, amazing stuff, it's definitely better than the 90 score it has received on here. (356 characters)

Excellent standing menu and great daily specials.

The brew pub seems to always keep a great crowd.

Servers are really responsive and the beer is a fresh as can be.

Nice selection of merchandise from the attached gift shop.

It never gets old watching the Growler box and an endless stream of people coming in to get their Growlers filled for the weekend! (359 characters)

About an hour outside of Philly, so a little bit of a drive (and I'd time it to not get stuck in traffic - Philly traffic is everywhere though). Honestly, I thought it was a bit hard to locate the main entrance at night. The building itself is huge and hard to miss, but the main door is tucked back in a corner 9\(you may need to drive around the block once is all I'm saying).

Inside is huge. There is a hallway style of seats to your right when you first walk in, otherwise the main dining area is quite large, which then bends to the left to bar and yet another dinning area. The long bar has roughly 21 seats, a dark wood back splash, and mirrors behind. However, the coolest aspect to the bar area are the huge cooper kettle cut outs. Basically, they have either purchased old kettles, or fabricated new ones, cut the tops off, and the cut the tops in half to create overhangs for the bar. They even have structural supports coming down as the sides that help make the rest of the bar. One of the coolest bar features I've seen to date. Next to the bar there is a large circular table using an entire top cut of a kettle for a canopy that I think is equally as cool. There are a flags hanging from the rafters, a few pieces of breweriana and some antique posters/signs promoting Victory (mainly WW1 and WW2 posters), and also a few tvs hung up in the bar area as well. There is a small, but very well stocked, merch store tucked away down a hallway.

As for the beer, it's always solid from Victory. The time I was there (earlier this year) they had 17 beers on tap, with some rarities, standards, and one offs. Overall, regardless of your tastes they'll have something for you, and likely more than one options of each style.

I would, and will, come back here often. It's a great establishment and produces some really fantastic beers. (1,844 characters)

Victory is kind of my home town brewery. It is an awesome place for a get together. There is a great selection of their craft beers. The service is great and fast and the bar tenders are friendly. A great thing that they offer is combining some of their beers. The food is awesome and not too expensive. The atmosphere is fun and if you're a local, it's basically a reunion every night. Awesome place, check it out if you're in the area (436 characters)

Great Brew Pub. Only wish bar area was bigger. But overall super great place that the locals love and you can tell cause it is always crowded. Food is really good. Tre Fries is one of my favorite at any place I have been too. Staff knows their stuff and most have a passion for beer and food!! (293 characters)

Went there about a Month ago and was a great time! They had amazing selection of beer and some new ones ive never had before. Service was very friendly and didn't have to wait to get seated at all! Also food was excellent! Hope to go again soon! One thing I will tell you is that the place is somewhat hidden in an alley unless I went a different way then usual! (362 characters)

A: Large layout, and much needed with the crowds that show up for the weekends. Nonetheless, meeting new people and striking up conversations comes easy, as most seem to be fairly content.

Q: Beer is pretty good... A night of entertainment, so say the least.

Ser: As said before, Victory gets pretty busy on the weekends, but the service does a great job at anticipating large crowds. Behind the bar, the bartenders are on the ball at keeping everyone's glasses full. Table-side, the service is just as good.

Sel: Strong selection... However, I have been disappointed a few times that certain beers are marketed, but not available.

F: Typical bar food, but good, nonetheless.

V: All and all, the prices are pretty reasonable. (730 characters)

Typical brewpub. Actually built in an old Pepperidge Farm bakery. Plenty of seating. Have been there many times and have never had to wait for a table. It can be noisy because of the very open, high-ceilinged room. Food is upscale bar food. The beer selection is strictly Victory beer. They don't sell anything they don't brew. That being said, they have twenty or so beers of different types on tap. All in all a good place for dinner or beers with friends. (458 characters)

This place has grow quite rapidly from it's humble beginnings. I guess that I am a little spoiled living within a 10 minute drive of one of the better breweries in the area. I've had some really great beers and some beers that I didn't really care for, but that's what makes this place amazing. They make so many different kinds of beers that you are bound to find something you like. The menu is good with fresh ideas and some old standbys. So if you are in the area I recommend you stop by and check it out. (509 characters)

I headed out here on a whim just to check the place out. The food was fairly average though good for the price. The beer selection was good, though oddly small given that the place is a brewery. I did appreciate the availability of hand pumped beers though.

There wasn't anything particularly remarkable about it. Everything seemed clean, the service was good but overall there was nothing particularly special about it that would bring me back. (447 characters)

Space was large, open, well-lit. Reminiscent somewhat of a warehouse, but ample seating, and standing-room bar service available for those waiting for tables.

Overall beer quality was spectacular. Many beers sampled between four people all of which were above-average examples of their respective genres and some of which were definitive. Service was somewhat slow, but it was a Friday night, and server was receptive to numerous esoteric requests from the resident vegan (who was not me).

Incredible selection. A great mix of session ales and heavy-hitters with a great variety of styles from across North America, Britain and continental Europe. Four cask ales, including the Storm King and the flagship HopDevil were available, which exceeds any cask selection I've seen.

Food was tasty, nothing overly special. Pizzas were properly cooked, wings were generously proportioned, and I'm told fish&chips and sandwiches measured up well.

Good value for money. Highly recommended. (982 characters)

Only had the chance to visit the brewpub once while I was living in Philly. Very large brewpub area, but was still packed. Good quality and diverse beers available on tap. My friend and I each got a sampler and shared to hit pretty much everything on the list. Nothing disappointed and the majority were very solid brews. We both got pizzas, but neither one of us thought they were that good - both tasted like cheap frozen pizzas. Don't know about the rest of the menu though. Service was excellent when we were there despite it being busy. If I was ever back in the area, I would definitely stop by again. (607 characters)

The service was quite horrible. Since it was just myself my wife and daughter, we seemed very unimportant to her. She forgot or ignored our drink order, and I was forced to go to bar to get them myself. It was greatly disappointing. The potential here was great but overall I would pass when there are so many other great options in the area. (342 characters)

We were seated very quickly. Upon being led to our table, we were in a very large room with what I described to my dining partner as a "caffeteria feel". There was a very large party in the room (maybe 30 people) who were very loud. I had never been impressed with Victory's beer in the bottle at home, but I thought I'd give it another try since it had been a while. I got a sampler of 5 different beers. Honestly, I don't have much good to say about the beer. I did enjoy the Scarlet Fire Rauchbier, but only because I had paired the smokey, bacony flavor with my food just right. I wouldn't drink it by itself. The food was very good, but the selection was a little lacking.

Overall, I don't understand what all the hype over Victory is... I've read reviews and maybe I'm not drinking the same beer, but of the 5 breweries I visited in PA that weekend, this was by FAR the worst. (883 characters)

This is a great place to come on a Friday or Saturday night when you want to have a good beer with good friends and not have to deal with the people congestion at other larger establishments near by. I come for the beer not the food as should you unless youre looking for just bar food like a pretzel then it's fine. Now living on the West Coast I get very happy when I find a place that carries Victory beer. (409 characters)

Classic brewery setup in the middle of a warehouse/industrial complex in Downingtown PA. Great beer and great people, the brewery gets constant traffic with beer lovers filing in and out to fill up growlers but also to enjoy a bite to eat; the food here is above average for a brewery. The bar tenders get creative if you visit, for instance serving up something called a "silver back" which is a combination of storm king stout and the brewery's famous Belgian style ale, golden monkey. Worth a visit. (502 characters)

Oh! why is this beer heaven five hours from my home? Tough place to find, some back streets then into an industrial park. Walking inside, if I squinted I could be in Germany. This place is large, with several rooms, or halls rather. We sat at a booth. Service was OK, food was good- but I came for neither (the only time bad service bothers me is when I can't get a first beer or am ignored by a server). With Hopdevil on cask and $10 growler fills of Storm King Stout I was in heaven. It was like meeting famous folks at home- I've admired Victory beer for years. I will be back, almost worth the five hour drive in itself. (624 characters)
