I felt like I had to come here with a purpose, and I did. Only because it’s a no-frills beer bar and bottle shop, with coolers to the left and a small tap selection at the back of the house. Vibe wasn’t inviting enough to stick around for a pint, but I did pick up some beer to go.

ISO is a no nonsense type of place. You come here because you want a good beer, and you know Dee and his guys will have something for you. Their always well curated tap list will feature numerous Bay Area breweries, such as Faction, Altamont, Fieldwork and Heretic, as well as larger breweries such as Lagunitas, Drakes, Firestone, Allegash, and many others.
The interior is industrial steel and is bare bones. The wall of coolers holds a top notch selection of bottles, including many high end offerings. You can buy to go, or open your purchases here. Step outside to the shaded patio and enjoy the mild San Jose weather. No food, but you are welcome to bring in food from the neighboring restaurants.
All in all, a top notch addition to the South Bay beer scene!

Douche-tastic, expensive beer bar that has become the norm in craft beer, unfortunately. Lots of esoteric high priced beer, absolutely no vibe to the place or from employees. 1 beer preciously short-poured was enough for me.

Unfortunately in sorta-sketchy Downtown San Jose—I would not want to be rolling out of here at night after 5 or 6 beers... High ceiling, lofty industrial minimal feel inside. Probably equal indoor/outdoor seating. Good tap list and several coolers full of (onsite or) to go options. Walking distance to a couple other spots so convenient geographically. No food.

Great selection, great vibe...service was a little slow maybe a waitress or couple more bartenders would help that. 50 taps and a wall cooler with another 200 bottles. Can also bring in a bottle of your own to share with friends.

My favorite bar in SJ. No one else comes close to selection and service for beer in the south bay.
Wish they had food but there are enough selections in the area to cover that.
Lots of bottles, rare's on tap!

Probably my favorite beer bar in San Jose.
Vibe is very industrial. While its clean, its not the most engaging environment. When there's a crowd in there if feels a lot warmer and lively. Overall very cool though.
Quality is good, I've never had issues with pours or subpar beer. The only issue I've ever had was when someone in my group ordered the wine and it was nauseatingly disgusting. I don't blame them for that too much though as they're a beer place.
Service is very good, they generally are able to move people quickly and get everyone what they need. It's usually a one man operation so it can be difficult when its crowded. The guys know their stuff as far as beer goes and are good at making recommendations.
Selection is excellent and always changing. 30+ taps and a giant fridge full of other stuff you can buy to drink there or to go.

the place has a great selection of craft beers on tap and bottled. never expected much from the employees besides them telling me the total, but they are polite. unfortunately, more then half the seating is outdoors, but there are zero patio heaters. the interior is clean and minimalistic. it's nice that you are allowed bring in outside food. kinda pricey and some of the beers can be found at other bars for cheaper. the selection makes it worth a visit.
