Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Smells of chocolate and coffee notes, nice and inviting. Tastes of coffee with chocolate and cinnamon notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Smooth, well-balanced, though a bit bitter in the aftertaste. Lovely mouthfeel. Overall, very good.

Unknown vintage; drank 11/1/21 @ the Yarchives.
Brown/black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big tan head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Brown sugar, cocoa powder & autumn leaf notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Brown sugar, cocoa powder & autumn leaf flavors; robust but a bit too sweet. Good.

Pours chestnut-colored with tawny highlights, topped by a modest cap of coarse, khaki foam that soon sputters away. Mild aroma smells of roasted malt complemented by notes of chocolate and toffee.
The taste features a hefty dose of caramel and roasted sugar up front, succeeded by a meager helping of slightly earthy, noble hops. Warming reveals notes of milk chocolate, roasted malt, prunes, and a livelier, awkward bitterness that lacks an identifiable character. Medium-light body and modest carbonation make for drinkable—albeit somewhat limp—mouthfeel.
Overall, this is a bog standard porter whose unwieldy sweetness becomes cloying in short order. Not an encouraging first foray into the realm of Pollyanna...

12oz bottle, no apparent freshness date. A tall foamy tan head caps a dark brown ale. Bold aroma of chocolate, grain, and earthy hops permeates the nose. Nice balanced flavors of cocoa, chocolate malt, nutty grain, coffee, caramel, toffee, and earthy & herbal hops. Fuller body, ample carbonation, balanced finish. This is a winner - I don't know why it took me so long to get around to this one!

Taste: Rich dark roasted chocolate malt, hints of coffee, toffee, with a dry finish. Smoked malt nose. Black/Brown hue, mostly opaque, tan head with delicate rings of lace. Full but not heavy body. 30 IBUs
