On draught at the Laurelwood Pizza Company, this is a new American Brown ale made with 6 malts and 4 hops, 35 IBUS, I didn't get the back story on the German name. servd in a nonic, Mibüstr is a tawny brown with a small, creamy, eggshell colored head that left light lace.
Smell is pretty nice, caramel and toffee, with dry, woodsy hops.
Taste at first struck me as a nice, snappy brown ale, but there was a sharp bite that quickly overshadowed the good, that I really tired of. I'm not really sure what it was, it might have just been the way the hops worked with the tasty malt backbone, they were spicy and woodsy, with a slight citrus tang that may have been the culprit, like some of the black IPAs that I don't care for.
Mouthfeel is light and pretty smooth.
Drinkability remained average in spite of the off-taste, mainly because it was light bodied but still nice and malty. But the sharpness was annoying.
Serving type: on-tap
