Our signature saison, the Pia Mahi 'ai (Farmers Beer) is a tribute to the farmers of Hawaii and our take on the classic Belgian farmhouse ale style.
This unfiltered ale is brewed with 30% wheat, which helps provide a gentle smoothness and a wonderful cloudy appearance. Bright, refreshing and satisfying, we've captured Hawaii's sunshine in a glass.

A: The beer is somewhat hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a narrow collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat are present in the nose along with hints of lemons and yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell and mostly has flavors of wheat along with notes of lemon citrus and hints of yeast.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and has some refreshing qualities.

September 14th, 2015 - A light saison, this beautiful beer practically glows in the glass, with a thin halo of foam on top and an iridescent blonde color below. The smell is lovely, both fruity and light, with peach juice, pear and the whole suite of flavors familiar from Belgian Golden Ales. There's also the suggestion of booziness. The flavor confirms this, heady and a little hot at first, but the palate clears out by end of the taste. It's lighter bodied and full of citrus, with pineapple and orange leading the way, and then bringing hints of guava. With a long aftertaste, this is a refreshing and casual sipping beer.

Love these cans - they always make me think of coconut water at the local Asian or Hispanic market. The size and format is perfect for every style out there!
Anyway. The beer pours a lovely orange straw color and smells the same - that barnyard funk. Taste delivers, predictably, lots of Belgian yeast, some esters, and a bit of honey. Drinks easy, nice and sweet, feels fairly light.
Very decent. Not a stand-out within the style, but right in line.

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a Willi Becher style pub glass, this beer pours out slightly hazy but I can see the shadows of my fingers on the other side.
I really like the smell it brings with a really natural honey mixing with notes of straw and orange peel.
The taste comes in with clean malt, honey sweetness, some fruit presence tangling with hay. Pretty damn clean.
The mouthfeel is dry and crisp.
Overall, this could be a crusher in the summer. It’s a delightful brew. Clean, refreshing and respectable, sessionable ABV.

Thanks again to Alex for another nice Hawaiian beer.
Sunburst body, slight haze. One finger foamy white head that leaves a faint cap and some lace.
The aroma is wheaty with some honey and citrus. Floral hops with a touch of spice.

Thanks again to Alejandro for the can.
Appropriate to the description, this pours what one would imagine honey and citrus ingredients would conjure. A glowing orange body struggling for clarity and capped by a silky soft looking white foam that leaves a thin coverage and spotty lacing.
All things detected. Honey, check. Citrus, check. Saison, check...ish. In all honesty, this smells like an American Hefeweizen or even Belgian Pale more than Saison, with a heavy dose of wheat and bitter orange peel, and just enough of a floral and spicy hop profile with a dash of white pepper.
Tastes more like a Belgian Pale too. Citrus and spice, cracked wheat and dried wildflowers. It's even convincing, or at least making me imagine that there is some clove thrown in.
Has a bit of a hefty feel to it. A little rich. Smooth with a very soft carbonation and good balance. More of a sweet to spicy balance as the bitterness is almost non existent.
An intriguing beer. The word "Saison" is the only thing I really have a problem with here. Label it as mentioned above, a hefe or Belgian pale and I'd be much more in line. Having said that, it's still pretty good, especially on this merciful sunny day.
Cheers.

So pleased to write the 1st review of Pia Mahi Ai, this mighty fresh saison from Honolulu, enjoyed at "must try" Japanese grandma sushi bistro in Hanapepe, Kauai, prior to Waimea Canyon hike, filled with 40 rainbows.
a) Golden honey colored, alight with slight haze, like a rainbow, ample lace and last.
s) All the expected aromas fly abundant: blossoms and honey abound among the saison yeasty tickle.
t) As follows the aroma with more blossoms and fresh farm to table nuance.
f) Cleansing, sour/sweet bitey mouthfeel likes its sushi counterparts.
o) World class super saison stands up to any I have tried. Island know-how and farm fresh to table craft
