On a warm day in Sarajevo, you want to reach for a refreshing beer. However, you have few choices, this is most likely your cheapest option and most widely drank option. I was hardly impressed by this Bosnian showing of brewing skills, it sort of had a weak metallic taste to it. It wasnt terrible, but it just had no real good flavor. If I had a choice between Coors Light and this, I would have to choose the cheaper of the two, as they are about the same. Dont expect much.

Cryptic back label is notched: X-18-2011, the X being the roman numeral ten. Therefore within code and relatively fresh...

12 oz. pull tab bottle, poured into a 0,2l stange glass. Fluffy cap of white foam, with irregular topography on it's surface. Sticky and long lasting, it laces pretty nicely to my surprise. Ultra pale yellow, even less color than most Kölsches. Brilliantly clear factory lager.

Smells like wet grain, mild pilsner malt and a vague sense of honey or clover. Fairly average.

Taste is dry and lightly bitter with a bigger sip. Husky grain, dry and bitter, light and mellow feel, completely inoffensive. Soggy wet graham cracker, mildly grassy dry bitterness. Very clean and simple. Pretty bland, but overall no real flaws other than being a utilitarian industrial lager.

A: The beer is clear light straw yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high bright white head.
S: Moderately strong aromas of corn and the liquid butter that is pumped onto movie theater popcorn are present in the nose.
T: The taste isn't that flavorful and has light flavors of corn adjunct malts. The faintest hints of bitterness are present in the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied and a somewhat watery on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer had a really unusual odor that wasn't horrible but just had a strange semblance to buttery popcorn.

The beer upon the pour is a clarion yellow with a modest frothy white head that vanishes quite quickly leaving a paper-thin patchy sheet of lace. Nose is the archetypical lager/pilsner malt, somewhat crisp, and a bit sweet, Start is conventional in its sweetness, grain presence light, as is the top. Finish is customary in its acidity and the hops light in their spiciness, dry aftertaste, not a bad beer, not a good beer, just and average beer in my books.

Sampled at the brewery's beer hall, it came out a clear straw gold under a thin 1/2 finger white head that fades quickly, leaving no lace. The nose is quite strong of sweet malt. The mouth is light and very prickly. The taste is strong of grainy malt with a touch of apricot. A fairly tinny hops bitter hits essentially from the beginning and lingers throughout. A slightly acrid bite at the back of the throat is the only aftertaste. Certainly not great, but it is drinkable in its natural habitat.

I was fortunate to try this beer at the source while backpacking in Bosnia last month. Sarajevo is a great city and this is a decent beer. One thing that struck me is that the beer smells very yeasty. I am a homebrewer so I smell a lot of fresh yeast and this beer had that aroma. Maybe it meant the beer was bottled too young. Anyway, I like the smell so it gets points for that. Beyond that, this beer is a typical eastern european lager. Light bodied, golden color, medium hop aroma, very non-offensive. Most likely an adjunct brew containing some corn and/or rice. Enjoyable to drink while travelling and I would like to try it again, but nothing special.

Foamy head that dissipates slowly leaving thin lacing, a clear yellow color. The aroma is weak and mildly acidic. There is bitterness in this beer, there is also malty sweetness, perhaps too much sweetness. This is the most popular beer in Sarajevo. I used to avoid this beer, but for some unexplainable reason I'm even enjoying driniking it now, from time to time. The majority of beers available here are bland pale lagers that taste alike, and those are what people here consider a beer. More complex beers, like pale ales, IPAs and such are unheard of here. To be honest, this is much better than American macros like Budweiser or Coors, but it’s a far cry from even the modest craft beers.

Pours a pale straw colour with decent snowy head, quite sparse though with big bubbles; good retention. Bead is virtually non-existent, and lacing is decent but doesn't stick to the glass. Looks fairly decent.

Nose is absolutely revolting. Sickly sweet with the mega-diacetyl-tron rampaging through it. Huge corn syrup stench, just sugary and syrupy. If I'm to be generous I'd imagine a brief and very slight grassy character, but really it's all treacle and molasses and sunshine. In a really sickening way. A pig of a smell. Smelling like a pig would be better.

Taste is not very nice either. Pretty watery on the front with mild buttery notes, and then mid-to-back altogether is a cloying, sticky mess. Not so sweet but large chunks of adjunct flavour and a doughy biscuity malt character. Hops are very mild and herbal, with a very slight woody character and a bit of sap in there.

Fizzy carbonation on the front also sours it up unpleasantly, while mouthfeel as a whole is undesirably sticky. Not good, not drinkable.

A friend brought this back from Europe for me.

Pours an extremely pale straw color with a smallish head and a smattering of lace patches. The aroma is of salted crackers and a bit of flowery hop aroma. The taste is subdued with some sweetish malt and a brisk hop bitterness. There's a fibrous, pithy somewhat abrasive hop character. A soapy feel is evident in the back. The mouthfeel is light with a soft carbonation and a wierd coating feel. The finish is lightly bitter and a vegetal.

This is a rather mundane lager. It distinguishes itself with its unusual hop profile, coarse and somewhat unrefined.

Pours a clear golden colour, quite mirrorlike, with a fine bubbled but slightly filmy head of pure white foam. Some decent lacing. Not stupendous, but very pleasing to look at in the glass.

Unpleasant over sweet corn characters on the nose. Hints of cooked veggies and sugar water. Rice is also quite possible. Very unpleasant, and appallingly insulting after the reasonable looking appearance.

Thin, but some how glutinous and weak in the mouth. Texture reminds me of someone else's saliva. Some fizziness, and a hint of weak rice or maize sweetness, but it's incredibly thin nonetheless. Back palate leaves a vaguely unpleasant organic bitterness in my mouth - I can't help but think that it's what the floor of a chimpanzee's cage would taste like. Very unpleasant.

Mouthfeel has that odd gelatinous character to it. It's not good, but it adds some interest at least.

No, not for me - very thin, very weak, devoid of character, and not even particularly refreshing for a hot summer day. I only save it from utter annihilation because I have had some truly offensive beers in the past, and this doesn't have enough character to be truly repellent.
